This is Dean Koontz's first book of short stories. In it, the story titled, "Twilight of the Dawn" really had a big impact on me. Even today, that story really touches me. The first story, called "Strange Highways," is also very good.

Only just started this book, but it is about a man who gets a second chance to live twenty years of his life. Now wouldn't that be good! It seems he taking a different path, witch involves finding that his brother is a mass murderer. So far on of the better Dean Koontz books I've read.

Someone once said "Dean Koontz is a Dean of thriller and suspense!" well, I think this books makes him earned that title. A title I thnk have long lost in his recent writings. This collections of short stories and 2 novellas, Dean Koontz at his best. We get to see a funny stories, thrilling stories, thrilling and also funny stories depends on ways of your perspective in reading. And what shocking me is there's also one story, "Twilight of the Dawn" that looks like taken from a pages of Chicken Soup for the soul with a little mix of supranatural. My favourite stories in this book are: The Black Pumpkins, Down in Darkness, Trapped, Twilight of the Dawn, and Kittens. I wonder whe will Mr Dean Koontz wrote another short stories collections like this again?!
