I have to admit I liked parts of it, but really, the writing (at least for the whole middle "Notebook" part) was pretty awful: "He put on the jeans from last night, a clean shirt, and brushed his teeth" BRUSHED HIS TEETH. WHAT AN ENHANCEMENT TO THE STORY. So, though the general idea could have been good if it was well-written... most of this novel was a list of uninteresting things that happened, along with laughably bad dialouge and characters that didn't make me feel anything. Kind of reminded me of a bad romantic fanfic.

It's more than summer love. this couple keep their love. even the woman's parents against it. even in the war, even poor, and even Old, they still together,.. and even died, They are still together,.

A sweet tender story, though at varaious points its tear-jerking and very touching. It's bitter-sweet too. Beautifully written, as it shows what true love is, and what it does to move people to do things which are beyond our imagination. True love overcomes obstacles. Love every moment of it. The mixed emotions of first love, the anxiety of separating. The courage to just get out there to reach for the love of your life instead of regretting is so powerful. I identified with the characters so much. Throughout the book, I smile, I worry for them, I cried. Absolutely amazing. It's a must read.

most touching book of all! words cannot describe the feeling i have for this book...the movie itself is amazing but the book is beyond comparison. a timeless love story that will capture the heart and soul of the reader...this is definitely my favorite Nicholas Sparks creation...

I read this book quite a few years ago while I was out of town on business. I picked it up at the mall near the hotel where I was staying, and read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I made it to the conference the following day (or that morning really) very tired and puffy eyes from crying. One of the best books I've ever read. I then saw the movie when it came out, and of course, it didn't compare to the read.

Book is way better than the movie. They spend too much time as the elderly. I cared more about them as youngsters.

THIS IS SO NICE THE STORY WITH THE NOTESBOOK AND KISSES. IT IS MADE IN TO THE MOVIE TOO WHICH I AM THINK TO SEE SOME TIME BUT THEN I AM KNOWING THE MOVIES ARE NOT SO GOOD AS THE BOOKS BUT THEY CAN DO KISSES IN THE MOVIE.

Trošku utahaný a přeslazený děj, ale když si člověk zvykne a začte se, je to moc pěkná kniha a silný příběh. Ale film je lepší :)
