This is one of my favorite series of all time. I was hooked as soon as I opened it. There is something for everyone in this book/series.

It wasn't without action. A bit slow in the beginning. Wondered for a long while about how these people tie in with each other. Being a sensitive has its dangers.

Good read, have been looking for another series of books to get my teeth into! Started a little slow, but I got attached to the characters by the middle of it and couldn't put it down after that

The whole series is great. Not a huge fantasy fan. I find they seldom follow "NSTAAFL". Irvine certainly does. He is a Donaldson without the misogyny and endless torture

This guy is a great author. I especially love how all the characters can be the good guy or the bad guy

Really enjoyed this book, it has restored my faith in Fantasy, i think i may have to read the others in the series it was that good...

A bit hard to follow at first. The beginning has you feeling like you're missing something. However, the writing is good and draws you in eventually. I have to say that I misunderstood the ending, and only made sense of it through reading the recap synopsis in the beginning of the next book.

Took a while to really get into the book and seemingly slow-moving and seemingly simple at first, however towards the end it really picked up and the other books in the series follow through, only improving on a great start. Fantastic imagery and imagination. I would suggest reading his later series in the "Tale of Three Worlds" - Ian Irvine is truly a fantastic author.
