I really like Alex Cross (although Morgan Freeman as Alex in the movies doesn't quite jibe with Patterson's description of him as looking like "a young Muhammad Ali"). He has taken on some extreme psychopaths over the course of his adventures, and The Wolf doesn't let us down in this one. As Alex is beginning his career with the FBI, he is assigned to help investigate the kidnappings of some people who , it is suspected,are being sold into slavery. Alex's family are placed in danger when the mastermind of the ring tries to exact revenge on everyone who tries to get in his way, and at the same time, his former fiancee shows back up after a two year absence, wanting to take custody back of Cross' youngest son. As always, there are more twists in this plot than a corkscrew has, and the ending has a real surprise.

An up tempo case full of twists & turns.. the search continues for the Wolf in the next novel London Bridges.... James Patterson's a helluva author!
