I love the way Nicholas Sparks tug at the readers heartstrings. I never thought I'd really like Nights In Rodanthe. My favorite Sparks story is Message In A Bottle, but the emotions you'll go through in reading this, is quite a ride. Makes you wish, you can have, even just a night from these nights...Love it...

I have to admit that me being so enamored with the Outer Banks of NC that the title alone hooked me. (And the fact that I bought it in the only book store on Hatteras Island!) It remained unread for a couple of years until I picked it up recently and read it in an afternoon. I so rarely(never) read romantic novels, so this was WAY out of my comfort zone. Still, it provided me with a story that exhibited writerly skill and some good character development. I especially liked the devices used to link the seemingly detached characters in a non- obvious way. A "little" story that was worth a couple of hours, but it did not spur my interest in other Nicolas Sparks works.

Nights In Rondanthe will hopefully become a timeless classlic because, in my opinion, Nicholas Sparks is a genius. He knows exactly how to rope a lasso around the reder's heart and just tug on in to the point where you hurt when the main character hurts, you cry when the main character cries, and you laugh when the main character laughs.
Although The Notebook is my favourite of his novels, this one have come to the tie! The characters were so well written that i was breathing and laughing like I was around Paul Flanner myself (haha). But with all seriousness, this book is one in a million. I highly recomend this book for people of all ages. I applaud you, Sparks.

No stars. Complete crap. Good thing I got it for free. My intellect feels lessened for having read it.
I should have known better. My excuse is that I got it for free - you really do get what you pay for! Appalling drivel that will appeal to those who enjoyed The Horse Whisperer, Bridges of Madison County and Memoirs of a Geisha. It's a terrible shame that trees had to die for this rubbish. I gave it half a star for being mildly less nauseating than the Horse Whisperer but it's definitely out of the same stable.

The book is so much better than the movie. If I would have just seen the movie I would have never read the book. I was so excited to hear about the movie coming out after reading the book but the movie was so disappointing to me.

Rather predictable and a tad unbelieveable in regards to how their feelings developed (but maybe that's the cynic in me!). Nevertheless it was an enjoyable and quick read.

I highly recommend this book! Nicholas Sparks has a style that is both easy to read and totally absorbing. I actually saw the movie before I read the book and I can say without reservation that the film adaptation does not do this story justice. Lane and Gere simply do not share the chemistry that these two book characters do. Nights in Rodanthe is the story of what is important in life and also of the strong impact that two people can have on one another's lives--even if they aren't together forever and ever amen.

At sixty, Adrienne Willis has lived a life, which may not have been very easy, but she has few regrets. Abandoned by her husband at forty-five for a younger woman, she had to single-handedly raise her three children and care for her ailing father. Now, with the kids grown and settled into stable lives, she is planning to step back from the role of full-time mom when her daughter, Amanda is suddenly widowed.

With two young children to care for, Amanda cannot afford to lose her marbles, and yet, an anxious Adrienne watches her daughter slowly unravelling before her eyes, resisting all attempts at consolation with the claims that no one would understand what she’s going through. So Adrienne decides to tell the girl a story she’s not told anyone before, and so the actual plot really begins, in a touching and vivid flashback.

Adrienne was still bitter about her divorce and low on self-esteem when Paul Flanner walks in through the door and into her life. Another recent divorcee, Paul is trying to turn over a new leaf and make sense of a life he wasted while chasing some obscure dream. A storm on the coast leaves the pair conveniently holed up in an empty house, and romance blossoms.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill romance, so the attraction is just as emotional and introspective as it is physical. Even the physical attraction is more realistic, because, face it…we’re talking about a forty-five year old mother of three and a fifty-something doctor dude.

I’ll leave it to you to read and find out what happens, but be prepared to be touched by the simple beauty of the story. With an easy, flowing style like Erich Segal’s , and a kind of optimism reminiscent of Paolo Coelho, it’s a very comfortable read.

I wonder whether I will get killed by the Spark's fans, honestly I can't find it interesting at all. It is a story of a handsome professional got dumped by his wife and conveniently found another pretty but miserable divorced lady in a seaside lodge for free romance and fun. They both had to separate with no choice but agreed to meet up one year after. Imagine if this professional never died and moved in with this woman, then disasters would come (but not mentioned in the book) - three kids unwillingly facing mom's "5-day Romance" new boyfriend, lots of bills waiting to pay and the hospitalised father have to take care of... This is the kind of love we as women to dream of but just be practical, how many real cases like these we find in our lives that could last forever?

Typically movies do not hold a candle to the book version of a story, and while this continues to hold true, I must admit that the movie and book version of 'Nights in Rodanthe' are both wonderful.

Nicholas Sparks writes a rivoting story of true love. A love that is not found at 20 or 30 years of age. A love that is not easy to come across. And a love that many times is missed due to the chaos of life.

Set in Rodanthe, NC (a wonderful place if you've never been) one can imagine (or picture, if you have visisted Rodanthe) the entire town and it's people. Paul & Adrienne become a part of the reader's life, and you wish/hope/dream of a happy ending... even if you know that is not possible.

One of the best love stories ever written!

Reeling with heartache after her husband abandons her for a younger woman, Adrienne Willis flees to the small coastal town of Rodanthe, North Carolina, to tend a friend's inn. Here she hopes to find the tranquillity she so desperately needs to rethink her life. But almost as soon as she gets there, a major storm is forecast and a guest named Dr. Paul Flanner arrives.(It was good.. but i didnt like the ending.)

 Dear Nick,
Not your best, but then I didn't want to hurl the book across the room either while or after reading it. Pretty much got the plot from reading the summary on the back cover.
