By far the only book that made me cry my heart out. A walk to remember - love story of two teenagers Landon and Jamie..No words to express the feelings they share for each other. Nicholas Sparks make you smile and cry throughout the book. Once I started reading this particular book, I could not put it down till I finished it. Its so engrossing and alluring that once you get into it you feel a part of the whole story.Knowing its a fiction, knowing they are probably make belief characters, knowing its just a story book, yet the emotions which the author potrays through Landon and jamie is prevelant and felt without any difficulty. Once those tears started rolling down when the disastours twist in the beautiful love story came in, it was difficult to control them till the end of the book. Its a great story by Nicholas Sparks. A story which all of us at some level, at some moment can relate to.

I think every girl that read this book was moved to tears; I have not heard of a single person who did not enjoy reading it. A Walk to Remember is such a beautiful story of a boy and a girl who have totally different lives, and Nicholas Sparks ties them together to form one of the most amazing books of all time.

I have to say though, that the movie doesn't compare to the book one bit. There are parts missing, and I don't feel that the main characters' relationship was portrayed well enough to make me feel that it was like I was reading the book again.

Nevertheless, just like everyone, I'll admit that I did shed tears over this story. It was so rich with romantic first-love and heart-breaking situations. I would rub my eyes and wipe tears away every ten seconds just so I could see and keep reading the page. This definitely had some life lessons in it as well, relating to the narrator who had a major life-changing experience. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone out there who would like to know what first love is all about. 10/10.

This book is one of Nicholas Sparks masterpieces. His work not just touches your heart, but also, your soul. He is definately one of my favorite author's. It took me nearly 5 hours to read the whole book. It caught my attention from the very first page to the very last. This book has a very good story line. It almost made me smile and tear at the same time. It throws a good message aswell. Dont allow your fear to limit your growth, always trust your primary instanct gut. Life isn't always fair, but evrything happens for a reason. Two minutes from now is unbecknownst to us. Having an optimistic attitude can help speed up recovery time( emotional ). It is the optimistic attitude towards life which develops a will. Faith also plays a key role. Keep doing your best without worrying about the results. Eventually, you will be awarded because He's got his eyes on you, carefully watching every step you take and if you fall, then its for a reason. Must be in the Lord's plan, by the way.

Sprinkled with unneeded profanities and with a plot as see through as water, this book was not what I had expected. I read the movie review and was intrigued by the report of Jamie's liveliness and snappy comebacks. The Jamie in the book would never make a comeback in her life. Though her faith was portrayed realistically, and I did feel some empathy towards her, I was disappointed by the way she was portrayed. Not very lively at all.
Landon was ok.
As I said before, I could see through the plot very easily, but that didn't really matter. Though the plot twist at the end might have been more enjoyable if I hadn't already figured it out.

It doesn't matter how long she would live....It matters how meanful was her life. It was only magic of love which rattles her heart, and fiiled her days with sweet azure...and melted his heart. She was hopeful and blessed ,so paradoxical to her situation. She was aware that deathwas very near...but this didn't stop her to find the hidden diamant in his heart. She was so patient and sweet to make him understand the real value of life. She gave him enough power to be who he was...and overcome hounting peer pressure.

I can honestly say this is the first book I've read where I enjoyed the movie version more. The book was short and rushed, and I felt like there was little to no story development. I hate when I'm reading a book and I can't understand the sequence of events or the evolution of feelings because it is just so ridiculously unrealistic, and that's how I felt while reading this book. Kudos to Shane West and Mandy Moore, because the movie is ten times better than this book.

Those who read Nicholas Sparks work know what I'm talking about when I say that this book is amazing! With "A walk to remember" Sparks is capable of capturing the reader from the very first page to the very last! This book represents the essence of true love and how it comes out of nothing to creat something so powerful that nobody can destroy! That when love is true nothing else matters but the other person with whom you have fallen in love with! Not even if that person may not be around for a very long time! It's magical, true and sad all at the same time!

I read The Notebook before I read this and can I just say that this book made me want to NEVER pick up another book from Sparks. It was just a horribly boring read for me. I couldn't wait for Jamie to die so the book would be over. I never became emotionally invested in the characters. The two leads who were suppost to be 17ish-18 (I read it a while ago) read to ME like they were 12 years old; therefor, I felt sort of weird by about their romance. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but the movie was way better (one of my favorites) However the writing in the book was mediocre and not very entertaining.

This fictional novel is about a relationship between a guy and girl who come from two different worlds of upbringing and living. The guys name is Landon and he is the typical popular' guy in a high school environment who is rebelious and takes uncalculated risks. Jamie is the girl, Landon eventually falls in love with. She comes from a christian family where her Father is the Baptist minister of the church they go to. Jamie cares a lot about the bible and appears to be disconnected to the 'worldly' ways.
She has strong integrity and spirit that Landon admires about her.

Landon is put under discipline and is forced to be more involved with school activities: the drama where he gets to know Jamie more and other activities.
His interaction with Jamie increases as they spend time going over their lines together. He gets to know her world by noticing what she gets up to. Jamie is a good hearted girl who looks out for the interest of others and is a cheerful giver. She looks after the orphans and collects money for them.
Landon and Jamie become very good friends and Jamie tells Landon her secret. Read it to discover her secret.

Landon learns true love through his friendship with Jamie. The outcome in the end is both positive and negative. This is such a good read, i recommend it to anyone wanting to be in a relationship and going through a relationship.

This novel has a dvd and a sound track that i own as well.

 Zeit im Wind
-------------------

Reviewed by Taylor Rector for TeensReadToo.com

Landon Carter is now 57 years old and he is telling his love story from when he was a senior in high school. He still remembers the events of something that he thought was just a friendship as if it was yesterday.

Jamie Sullivan was a minister's daughter, who wore boring brown sweaters every day, always tied her hair up in a bun, and always had her Bible with her. She is the girl that you would think of when you would imagine the person who gets made fun of in high school. She had never been on a date in her life, and Landon was one of the more popular boys in his high school.

Landon didn't have a date for homecoming, so he decided that he would ask Jamie because she was too sweet to say no and wouldn't have a date yet. When he asked, she said "promise me that you won't fall in love with me."

After a horrible night at homecoming, Jamie asked Landon to play the male lead in an upcoming Christmas play that was performed every year, and was a very big deal in the town. Landon didn't really want to, but Jamie talked him into it because she was playing the lead female and her father had written the play -- and Jamie wanted the play to be very special. After about two months of constant rehearsals, the play was performed and the town knew that this had been the best year ever. And Landon had to admit that it went well, and that he was falling in love with dorky Jamie. But there is a secret that Jamie was hiding from Landon. What could it possibly be? And why did she tell Landon not to fall in love with her?

This is another powerful love story from an author that makes you believe in love. Read this amazing novel to find out the secrets of Landon and Jamie.

Once again, a great book and touching story from Nicholas Sparks. It's heartbreaking, and bitter-sweet. Tear-jerking, at the same time, with a lot of depth and meaning. It's not only about true love, but also about a father's love for a daughter. We can also feel the resentment of a father who played the role of a mother as well.
The relationship between the hero and the heroin reminds a person of their puppy love experience during high school. The girl next door with a guy who is so opposite in character. Inspirational tear-jerker. The spirituality highlighted here also shows what things faith can do in terms of motivating a person through hardships.
A must read romance novel.
The movie can't compare to the book, the book is just way better.

Its a touching story about 2 high school students:Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter, set in the town of Beaufort,North Carolina. The plot depicts the various situations in life which change its meaning for the arrogant passive boy Landon, son of the Congressman,Worth Carter when he falls in love with shy and ever so helpful and selfless Jamie, daughter of the President of the Southern Baptist Church,Hegbert Sullivan,to whose good book the Carter's name probably come last. The story has a long lasting effect on the reader's mind and soul. One might feel sad for the fate of the couple but their love will make one proud, make one want to fall in love and be in love; not only to someone special but to everyone around. In the core of the book there is a simple hopeful love story laid out lucidly by Nicholas Sparks, which makes it a wonderful read with need of some tissue papers for the reader nearing the end.

In the prologue to his latest novel, Nicholas Sparks makes the rather presumptuous pledge "first you will smile, and then you will cry," but sure enough, he delivers the goods. With his calculated ability to throw your heart around like a yo-yo (try out his earlier Message in the Bottle or The Notebook if you really want to stick it to yourself), Sparks pulls us back to the perfect innocence of a first love.In 1958 Landon Carter is a shallow but well-meaning teenager who spends most of his time hanging out with his friends and trying hard to ignore the impending responsibilities of adulthood. Then Landon gets roped into acting the lead in the Christmas play opposite the most renowned goody two-shoes intown: Jamie Sullivan. Against his best intentions and the taunts of his buddies, Landon finds himself falling for Jamie and learning some central lessons in life.Like John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany, Sparks maintains a delicate and rarely seen balance of humor and sentiment. While the plot may not be the most original, this boy-makes-good tearjerker will certainly reel in the fans. Look for a movie starring beautiful people or, better yet, snuggle under the covers with your tissues nearby and let your inner sap run wild. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien hide

I'm not a big Nicholas Sparks' fan to be honest. It just seems that all of his stories are extremely similar. So, I don't bother reading his work really.

However, I read A Walk to Remember when I was a teenager. At the time, I hadn't read anything else by the author or seen any movies based on his work. So this was the one, and probably only, piece that I could get into of his work. It was an average, decently-told story with a sappy story-line. A quick, easy read. I did enjoy it, but not something I would call a favorite- and it wasn't anything great enough to get me to read anything else by Nicholas Sparks.

I've tried watching a few movies based on some other works of his and as stated above, couldn't get into anything else of his- and found that they all held similar concepts. I don't know. Maybe just not my thing. :)

Overall, this was a decent read, though.

"Yet another great book by Sparks. If you want to cry, read this book. If you read this book and don't cry, go buy a heart! This is a close second to "The Notebook". An incredible love story like no other. Sparks brings you into the lives of Landon & Jamie and has you routing them on with every turn of the page. If you are a Nicolas Sparks fan, or are looking to become one, this is a great book to start with." .......

When seeing her on the stage, Landon realizes he's fallen head over heels for her. When they fall in love, Jamie reveals that she has cancer.  Nicholas Sparks has a rare talent. His mastery of the written word is best described as artful, clever, crafty, insightful and filled with emotion. There is an uncommon vividness one reads within the pages of his novels. He is an artist who paints a picture with words. Good writers can create pictures in one's mind; thus, giving the reader a feeling of watching a film rather than reading a book. I see this quality within the pages of A WALK TO REMEMBER.Another rare quality within the pages of A WALK TO REMEMBER is much more difficult to articulate. This novel brings forth an intense emotional reaction. As I read it, my mind returned to a time in which I felt less jaded. The feelings of "first love" experiences emerged. For a time, I felt younger and later yearned for a past where I embraced optimism in a loving relationship. "What could have been?" I privately asked in self-reflection.As I ponder on the plot within A WALK TO REMEMBER, I am pulled back to reality. My critical analysis suggests that this novel is nothing special. There are no big surprises in the story line. However, the profound elegance of this novel is not in the plot, but the grandeur of the author's ability to write and seduce the reader to unconsciously digging deep for emotions rarely felt. There is a quiet intensity within these pages.

Every woman's favorite author Nicholas Sparks puts together a love story for the ages. While the premise is sound the writing is not..Sorry but never got into this book as the writing quality was poor. The characters were not well developed either. Save some time and skip this unless you really like Sparks

Story unfolds at the lazy seafront town of Beaufort. Son of a congressman and member of the in crowd, Landon Carter saw no possible ways that he'll end up with the daughter of the local reverend, Jamie Sullivan, a religion devout and in every and any way a saint. However, fate brought them together when Landon asked Jamie out for a date on homecoming due to lack to choice. Gradually, Landon break down Jamie's natural reserves and found himself in love with her. Soon, he'll know why Jamie held up her walls all those years, a critical reason. A reason that will eventually broke his heart...

Like all Nicholas Sparks's work, A Walk To Remember will make you laugh and weep as the tale unravels. However, i find the storyline to be a tad predictable but just like hearing a hilarious joke for the second time, you'll know the punchline already but you'll also find yourself laughing at it second time too, A Walk To Remember will do just that. Speculate all you want but just be ready with tissues as the book will still bring smiles to your face and tears to your eyes.

After reading some good reviews about this piece of work form NIcholas decided to pick it. A Fictional story of Jamie an orthodox girl and Landon carter son of rich dad, both coming from a very different upbringing, yeah stereotypical characters again !. Nicholas bring em together with a phenomenal development in their friendship. I can bet people who have fallen in love before would shed tears as the story unfolds.
Not a very great story, a typical love story with few happy moments and all sorrows that evoke empathy for the characters.
Having watched bollywood movies, this doesnt seem to be fascinating at all.
Good read for lovers, and a better time pass .

This book has a great start..A claim by the author that "first you will smile, and then you will cry --- don't say that you haven't been warned."

This is great love story, but I think too much focus being centred on the two main characters, Landon Carter ( a mischievious kid) and Jamie Sullivan (basically an angel).

This book should have had make me cry, but somehow it didn't, because at every point, I can already sense what is coming next.

Hopefully my next pick of his book would be better .
