If you like tales of murder, the supernatural, and noble quests, this is for you!

It is not a story about dragons, though the title is explained. Instead you will find a story of two brothers pitted against each other at the whims of an evil that has been underestimated until now.

Take a front row seat as King shows he is a master of more than just horror.

Kig wrote this for his preadolescent daughter at the time. While I didn't pass it down to my kids at that age, it is still a great novel.

A fairly slow read. Especially the first 100 pages. After that, the plot gets more interesting. Especially good for people who love "The Dark Tower" series.

one of his older works, but compelling nonetheless. i think this work is the most entrenched in the fantasy genre of all his works. i mean, dragons, castles, kings and prince, wizards? it's all the most expected characters to populate high fantasy... but seriously, this fantasy yarn is unlike any other, mainly because this world, as with all of his other works, are tied to his dark tower world.taken by itself though, it is still very interesting. despite being sorta different in genre, it is very much a king book - a hint of terror, a touch of darkness - and quite frankly, fascinating. not a long read, but a nice change of pace from his mostly dense works.

Not a genre I usually like (dragons, castles, that whole bit) but found it very entertaining. Pretty far fetched but entertaining. Good flight/travel book b/c it's written in uber short chapters. Also written as a narrative by a story teller - as if the guy is just talking to you - which I liked.

I have read at least half a dozen of King's books. The man is a great author, and I've LOVED each of his books that I've read ... except this one! Eyes of the Dragon is definitely King at his worst. It was poorly written and very cliched. One critic said that he kept reading b/c he couldn't "put it down." Neither could I, simply because I hoped it would end well, which it did. Thank goodness King didn't write more about the Land of Cliche.

I loved this book. I know it was written to prove to his daughter that he could write something other than horror, but it still feels like a Stephen King book.

I read this book when it was first released and remembered enjoying it at that time. Now, I have re-read it again and believe that I enjoyed it even more than the initial reading.

The tone of the book is reminiscent of fairy tales of my youth. All the ingredients (a kingdom, good and bad royals, faithful servants, an evil force, a murder most foul, high adventure, mythical beasts) combine for a magical venture into the realm of fantasy.

This is an easy read. Don't read too much into the story. It is simply fantasy done extremely well.

I am an avid Stephen King fan and of all his works this one ranks #2 in my book - right after The Stand.

A very different direction for Stephen King: Told in the style of a fable or fairy tale, "The Eyes of the Dragon" takes place in a medieval era, beginning with the murder of a king and his heir disgraced, doomed to be locked in a tower until his death, while his younger brother slowly becomes the unwitting slave of the visier and sorcerer, Flagg.

This is actually a very important book in the world of Stphen King, as Flagg (aka Walter Padick/Bill Hinch/Randall Flagg/Richard Fannin/Rudin Filaro/The Walkin Dude/Walter O'Dim)is a frequently recurring character throught his books, beginning with this book and continuing all the way through the Dark Tower series.

It was a good concept, but King has a way with... taking an idea and running with is a bit too far. the way the plot transitioned seemed inconsistent to me. There were moments where the book would seem like logical one, then suddenly something fantastic and out-of-the-ordinary would occur just at the author's convenience to move the plot along, which leads me to say the book isn't structured enough; as if it were written in one sitting, then handed to an editor to sell millions of copies since it has Mr.King's name slapped across it. The book was very much an enjoyable read, but I would not call it a favorite, and that King has written much better pieces than this. 4 stars, overall.

This book was not at all what I was expecting from Stephen King. It is written like a fairy tale story. It took me a while to get into it, but once I got used to the writing style it was not bad. The characters where well written, and the story moves at a good pace. I found I did not get hooked on the story completely until about half way through, and then I could not put it down.
It helped me to put things in perspective when a friend told me that Stephen King wrote this book for his daughter. A fairy tale of Princes, and dragons, and dark wizards, death and friendship. A story written by her father that she was actually allowed to read :0)

awful. I hate the way this is written. This is the first novel I've read by Stephen King and I obviously made a really bad choice. I don't think it's typical of him at all. The story is told from the point of view of an unseen narrator who comments on how good and how bad certain characters are as if the reader can't have their own moral insights but have to be told what to think. The story itself is boring. It drags on, the prince is too good and two dimensional and i hate this book!

Not your typical King novel. This is more of a traditional medieval fantasy, sword-and-sorcery type novel than his usual horror thing. It was good, just not typical. Of course, his sense of humor is still the same, and Flagg is a villain that crosses the boundaries to enter some of King's other works. Someone said that this is the same world as his Dark Tower series is set in, but I don't know for sure.

Although it's from Stephen King, it's not scary. It's more in the fantasy genre and is a fun and engaging book to read.

Perhaps this is a peeve against all else King does but his hinting at more stories to come and not following up with it is vexing. Oh, but this is a story for another time, oh, this and that will happen but that’s a story for another time. It makes the world bigger and perhaps implies the noble notion that stories do not end but branch off but this cat-string / donkey-carrot relationship just quirks my nerves.

It’s a fantasy story but narrated by someone familiar with our world and omniscient of the tale being told, which is the most fascinating twist. It allows the narrator to naturally talk about flushing toilets and firearms in a medieval setting where the most important weapon is a bow and arrow.

It’s a surprisingly fast paced book, given what happens and how it’s described. The book essentially sets up the birth and teenage-hood of the hero and then throws him in prison for years. It tells the story through a fragmented chronology, skipping ahead and then rewinding back to re-examine the event in detail. It’s occasionally maddening since the omniscient narrator is basically winking at the impatient reader. This is the primary shift in structure from what one would expect from the swords and sorcery world created here and the novelty of it was fascinating. Fascinating enough to keep me wondering, even though the Shawshank Redemption twist is revealed rather then concealed.

Delain and the principle villain are familiar names from having run bits of The Dark Tower, if referencing is your thing.
