The scariest part is all the nuclear energy info. If you research it you'll find there was a lot of bungling by people who weren't properly trained. The Idaho National Laboratory accident comes to mind. The tech moved the control rod too far, killing 3 and causing extensive radiation contamination.

This was the first novel I ever read by Stephen King....did not like it one bit. For a long time I wouldn't read another King novel until I tried The Dark Half.
