This book was laugh-out-loud funny! I had to stop reading sometimes because of the tears in my eyes! When attempting to share excerpts with my Mom, my sister, my best friend or any other female who happened to be around, I oftentimes, couldn't stop laughing long enough to form coherent speech. :~) I can't wait to read the other books from this author!

Jen Lancaster is hilarious. Matter of fact, frank and witty. Would love to meet her. I also read "Bitter is the New Black"--this memoir is really no different.

Laugh out loud reading. We have all known that person that seems (or seemed, in her case) to have it all and be so arrogant about it; this book shows you that everyone is vulnerable to failure. It's what you do to pick yourself up that separates the true survivors. All women want at least a little bit of Jen in them. At least I do.

This was my least favorite of Jen's books, but it still made me laugh. I much prefer her memoirs that follow a storyline as opposed to the essay style writing in this book.

It took me awhile to warm up to Jen, but I have to admit that she eventually won me over. Yes, she's negative and whiny (hmm... sounds like someone else I know), but she IS funny. Next time I need a fun book, I just may pick up her other title.

I absolutely loved Such a Pretty Face and am actually re-reading it now. This book however left much to be desired. Jen spent much of her time whining about one thing or another until I began to wonder how she kept her friends, though they do seem to have electronic relationships. There was little of the biting humor infused wisdom and more of a support group monologue and I just felt downright sorry for Fletch her long-suffering husband. Given the choice, take a pass on this book and pick up the next installation - ...Pretty face.

Was laughing out loud & reading snip it's to my husband. He thought I was just talking 'cause I talk in the same sarcastic tone that Jen Lancaster does. LOVE this book. HIGHLY recommend it to anyone & everyone. GREAT read and now I am off to finish the rest of her books. The day I finished this one I went out & purchased the other 3 she has out and gave back the borrowed copy to my friend. Thank you, Shaun for recommending this to me. Your taste in books is awesome!

I loathe chick lit. I say this having never made it beyond the first page of any chick lit, no matter how hard I try. I pick one up, I get to the part where I want to slap the main character, and I give up. THIS IS NOT THAT BOOK. Do not be swayed by the purse on the cover, or the mention of "[ex-]sorority girl". I love this book. I took it with me to get my hair done, not expecting much, and ended up laughing so hard and so loudly, while reading, that I was crying. And disturbing the women around me, I'm sure.

I noticed some people saying that they expected a big "epiphany" from this book. Who said there was going to be a big epiphany? It's her memoirs. It's HILARIOUS! if you didn't like this book why would you read the others "just to see why on earth she got published"? If you hated it...you hated it...I don't think she really needs your approval. Don't be such an asshat. I'm sure you are one of the jackasses she writes about in her books. It's good that you hated her book because judging on the way you talk and how great you think you are...I think she would hate you too. Just sayin.
I laughed all the way through this book. I was sad when it was finished! I started a Jen Lancaster book club onhere. Join if you love her, stay away if you don't!

A fun light read for summer, but too aimless and ultimately dissatisfying due to a lack of realization at the end.

I'm not all about formulae in literature (great literature or "great" literature), but give me an epiphany, a wise observation, something! Twenty dollars and five hours later, I need my ending wrapped up in a pretty box and handed to me while I recline on a gold toilet eating (seedless) grapes out of the hands of partially-tatooed Hispanic men. I deserve it.

I'm gonna read her first book just to see how in holy hell this woman ever got published in the first place, let alone released a second book. Stay tuned.

At first I thought I'd like it so I started reading. I was unsure during the first quarter of the book. I never had doubts about Lancaster's writing. I think she's good. I just couldn't decide if I liked her or not, which matters because if I don't like or can't relate to the author of a memoir I can't really like the story.

I liked it once she started playing up her vulnerabilities. While she sort of does this from the start, there is more emphasis on being a big city snob in the beginning.

She compares Chicago and New York City, which can't be done in the context. ("Sex in the City" wouldn't work so much if it was in Chicago. The people are totally different.)

But I loved her stories about going to the gym, hiding from trick-or-treaters, (even though I love Halloween and she hates it), and trying to help her neighbor's alchoholic, destructive friend.

I, also, love that she's a self-proclaimed overweight woman who is so comfortable with herself and loves dressing herself up. Looks matter a lot to her, and she seems fine with her size (most of the time).

Her confidence and competitive edge make her an inspiration. I'm on the fence about everything else.

I'm ready to read another Jen Lancaster, though.
