I am really enjoying this book right now. I love the descriptions that help me "see" things I've never actually seen. I really like his ideas of how the wisemen came together before looking for the Christ. I wish he had them coming when Jesus was 2-3 instead of just born, but other than that I've enjoyed it.

Excellent book, but the story about how it was written is even more amazing! A good read. Great book written by one who set out to disprove the resurrection of Jesus Christ and ended up becoming a Believer. A classic, in my opnion.

Just finished reading. Very disappointing. Too much description of scenery and not enough originality in the story. The lamest 'revenge' story I have ever read. A pathetic revenge story and over the top descriptions of scenery make this one of the most boring books. Characters are very one dimensional, lack any personality and undergo little psychological development. A rare case where the movie is better than the book.

A timeless classic. The movie was great, but even back then, movie-makers had the knack of watering down a good story.

The film is a much abridged version. The book starts with too much religious background. But its still a classic.

Ben-Hur is 500 hundred pages long and I read it in 8 days. It is exciting and Gen. Wallace describs things in a way so you really feel you are there in Bible times. The movie is okay, and the plot sticks with you so read it every 10 years.
