These are some intense books! Anne Rice (under her pseudonym of course) uses her usual highly sensual way of writing and throws it into full force for this trilogy! If you like sex - not romance, SEX - and you don't mind a little (OK, ALOT) of homo-eroticism (both ways) then go for it. I certainly got a rise (or several) just from reading these. Then I promptly sold them off so my children would never find and read them!

As far as erotica goes, this at least had an interesting concept. It was a little too S&M for my tastes. I think it's Anne Rice's weakest book series. If I hadn't purchased all 3 books as a gift set for myself, I probably wouldn't have read past The Claiming

Possibly one of the hardest books by Anne Rice for me to rate... The Claiming is, like all of Anne's books, absolutely beautiful to read in terms of prose. However, "content" is another matter.After reading all of her vampire and witch books, I decided to go back and read every one of her published novels beginning with her earliest stuff first. This is the third of the non-vampire/witch books I've read and it is certainly one of the more interesting books. There is story, adventure, suspense, thrill, and highlighting this is S&M in all of it's glory. Well, the non-blood type. Certainly a "must read" for any Anne Rice completionist, but definitely not something I'd recommend to a casual Anne reader. To sum up the story, Sleeping Beauty is awakened after a hundred years by a Crown Prince. Not with a kiss, mind you, but with a "forced entry." As the kingdom is awakened, the Prince informs her parents that he has claimed her and will take her to his castle for improvements... which include all sorts of sexual exploits, demeanities, and tortures in graphic detail. Again, there is no blood - all S&M is mostly centered around various forms of spanking. If you decide to read this, brace yourself.

I slogged through this trilogy because I love Anne Rice. Not her best work her I'm afraid. The whole S&M thing got really repetitious really fast. Didn't find it erotic nor hot. It only became interesting at the rare moment when the allure to domination/submission was explored. I appreciated that the whole spectrum of sexuality was explored and the resolution actually was suprisingly satisfying. Overall though, disappointing.

I was given the box set of Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy for Christmas. The book denotes the under laying psychology of submitting oneself fully to an others will and desires but also explores the need and nature of the one who submits . I enjoyed the book but thought there were to many characters so there was no sense of an evolving relationship between any one. I know thats probably the point.Also I felt it was very thin on plot. I have read other stories that explore the nature of a sub dom relationship and have felt they do a much better job. Anne rice could have taken huge chunks out of the book and woven her story more . It felt like she included ever sexual position ,humiliation, play, and punishment that she had ever researched or could imagine . Less is more

i am not into erotica, but after buying the first book, the claiming of sleeping beauty, i had to go buy the rest of the set. the way anne rice wrote these books, the erotica part became the book and you don't just focus on those points in the books. all i wanted to do was read the rest of the books to see what happens to sleeping beauty. once i started to read the books i couldn't put them down until i finished them. i would recommend these to everyone of 18yrs and up.

Definitely not for the faint of heart or sexually closed minded. A lot of BDSM among other sexual taboos. Fun read though for those that would be interested in that sort of literature.

This is not one of my favorite books. I like the way Anne Rice writes, but this erotic novel made my stomach turn. I only got though three chapter before I had to put it down. I do not recommend this book.

I read some of the bad reviews before I purchased this book. I realized some people claimed this book was nothing but generic porn, but considering it was written by Anne Rice, I thought the book must have some redeeming qualities. I was wrong. Anne Rice took a beautiful fairytale and turned it into a grotesque display of homo/heterosexual brutality. I almost feel embarassed for Mrs Rice and wonder what drove her to write such complete and utter drivel. Spankings, spankings and more spankings! Black, white, gold paddles. Spankings for punishments, spankings as rewards, spankings just for the heck of it! If I wasn't so disgusted with this book, I would actually laugh. But what really disturbed me is that all these Princes and Princesses that the Queen and her Princes keep for their own sexual amusement are mere children. One of the Princes kept her in room as her person sexual slave was 16. My negative review has nothing to do with me being a prude or not. It's one thing to write a kinky book for adults about adults. That I can live with, but this book crossed the line. Some of the people brutalized in the most horrendous ways are children. I can't believe this book was even published. It's a pedophile's dream come true. This book is going into the trash because I never want to lay eyes on it again. Nice knowing you Anne Rice.
