To me, it seemed like Medea, with it's themes of revenge & justice in an unjust society, is a tragedy that's true to form, but also a masterpiece that easily transcends the ages. The title character represents that self-destructive potential in many of us. And to round out the tragic themes, was a well-written almost poetic sampling of writing. I loved the soliloquys in this play. What made it my favorite play so far, was just how beautifully written it was.

I suggest reading Gilbert Murray's translation, if you can not read Attic Greek; as an aside the cover of this version is utterly moronic.
