Viel muss man dazu nicht sagen: Thoreau ist im denken seiner Zeit weit voraus, spricht über Themen, die auch noch heute unsere Themen sind und kleidet alles in Worte, die den Kern treffen. Ein Lieblingszitat: „Sage, was du zu sagen hast, nicht was du sagen solltest!“

I wasn't really interested in this book. Thoreau definitely discusses important ideas that were fundamental to his society and that would improve our society today. However, he does so in a rather boring and uninteresting way. This almost reads like an encyclopedia on social topics.

interesting very interesting...learnt a lot from it and some of that was just the words but well worth the read if you persevere

People whose ethos doesn't already align with this book will probably benefit from it the most. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the majority of it. I had to read the parts I didn't enjoy so that I didn't miss something profound. That was the worst part.

I only read Civil Disobedience but it was AMAZING. I will get to Walden some day but I have other books staring at me right now, just waiting to be read!
