I am telling you, if you are into Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, and things that go bump in the night...this is the series for you!! Laurell Hamilton brings them to life in a way like no other, and will have no cheering for the quintessential "bad guys" at some point, I guarantee it!! ;D

Circus of the Damned (love this title) is largely about power plays in the vampire world. Of course, Anita is stuck in the middle of all the drama. Jean Claude more than ever wants Anita to start acting like his human servant because of his attraction to her but also to protect his reputation and position as Master of the City. Meanwhile everyone wants Anita to give up the name and location of the Master of the City-Edward, the bounty hunter, a vampire hate group, and some ancient vampires with their own personal agenda. Anita must decide where her loyalty lies. She may be able to free her mind from Jean Claude, but her heart..that is another story. Love the epic battle at the end (kind of campy w/ it being Halloween, costumes, the whole circus arena, but maybe that is why I like it)I am interested to see what happens next!

The 3rd book in the series was the turning point for me, this is when I became hooked and believe me when I say that the series hits its stride & you won't be disappointed. ( I read books 3 through 6 in 2 days' time.)This book is largely about power plays and poor Anita being caught up in them. Jean Claude needs her to start acting like a human servant to protect his rep and station. Everyone wants Anita to give up the name and location of the Master of the City --- humans, in the form of a vampire hate group; our favorite bounty hunter, Edward/Ted; and vampires alike are all gunning for Jean Claude. The question becomes: Does Anita want to rid herself of the master vampire & his marks enough to give up the information that would lead to his final demise and with it, her freedom? This book introduces some of my favorite characters in books to come as well as better defining current ones. This book/series is definitely worth a read.
