OK everyone know I love vampires...but this isn't a normal vampire style book! Anita is a vampire slayer/executioner...but she her regular job is raising the dead...which means they come back as zombies!! It is an unusual series...and let me say series...I believe there are something like 15-20 books!!

Thanks to this book, I had the beginning of a great adventure with the Anita Blake series. I've read every one of them, and they are all still on my shelf. I'm excited about the next book and I hope other Dark Fantasy readers pick this book up. You wont regret it.

I am a fan of vampire novels. After reading the Twilight books, the Sookie Stackhouse series,and the House of Night series, a friend of mine told me about the Anita Blake novels so I decided to give it a go. After reading Guilty Pleasures, I still don't feel 100% captivated. It was definitely entertaining. I like the main character-Anita Blake, an animator ( she raises the dead) and a legal vampire executioner. She is small but tough as nails and has a sharp sarcastic sense of humor. There is lots of supernatural elements here (ghouls, zombies, were-animals). In this first book Anita takes down a master vampire and appears to be marked by the replacement, Jean Claude. I am going to continue on in the series as I hear that it gets better.
