I love this book. It was absolutely amazing. Only two things disappointed me, and I suppose they're pretty big...

Fred Weasley being one of the two. I have spent the past nine years of my life being in love with the twins- specifically Fred, as he always seemed a bit more of a character in the books. I dunno- it was always "Fred and George"- not "George and Fred", does that make sense? Fred's death shocked me to the point of my not wanting to read the book anymore. I just didn't want to. It wasn't worth it to me, no matter how amazing the past thirty or so chapters were- nothing has ever broken my heart like that did, and that's including Dumbledore, as well as the ever-sad (but predictable) fate of Severus Snape.

The second piece of frustration was the last chapter. Oh, how I loathe that last chapter. I feel that everyone has spent so very long reading these books (I myself have given over half of my life to JKR and her wonderful books...) that it would only be right to leave a very, very open ending. People have long-since decided if they like Harry/Ginny, what Harry would do after the war, if Ron and Hermione would be wed, how Draco would turn out (I did NOT expect his receeding hairline- that's for sure... >:( ) and so on and so forth. It was, needless to say, a great disappointment that JKR, an amazingly talented writer in and of herself, would deliver such a mediocre, predictable, CLOSING chapter for a series that left much to the reader to imagine.

On a brighter note, Neville and Mrs. Weasley were absolutely amazing and I love them both long time. <3.

 *SPOILERS*

I finished the book yesterday, and just had time to come on and leave my thoughts. One word. Literary. This book was a perfect mirror to book one. The events in the beginning of the book were like a reversal of the spell cast in the beginning of the first book. How Harry is taken from the Dursley's. If Voldy had only read the first book, he would have done away with Harry for sure ;-).

Of course I knew Snape was a good guy. He knew the whole story, and that was hinted in PoA. Strong hint. Fulfilled with this book. Loved seeing all his perspective of the series through the pensive.

Face it, we all knew by the end of six that Harry was a horcrux. Those who figured he would have to die, were right...and those who were saddened by this fact was pleased to see that Dumbledore "corrected" that interesting little tid-bit by filling us in and letting us know that Voldermort had only killed the horcrux in Harry (as well as some other cool details).

As for the epilogue. I've read here, that a lot of you didn't like it. ART THOU NUTS? I respect your opinion...I just disagree. It was amusing, heartfelt, and I loved the fact that Harry and Ginny named their second oldest Albus Severus...and she made a point with that in the end too. The only thing that threw me off was that they had more kids that Ron and Hermione...alas, they still have time.

Grade A+

*edit* just noticed...look at the covers to one and seven...the arches are pretty similar...once again...mirroring book one...I'm telling you...she's a genius...

Rowling is an idea wizard, not really a plot master. I liked the way the Order of the phoenix each turned themselves into harry with polyjuice to help him escape. I like the idea of harry being a Horcrux. The deathly hallows themselves and the will of Dumbledore were nice touches. I love the final bonding between Harry and Dudley. No one gives the Dursley's credit: I think they were truly looking out for Harry and felt that magic would eventually kill him like his parents. I'm moved by Hedgwig and Snape getting killed. I could care less about Moody. Thank Heaven Dobby was killed, that Jar-Jar Binks wannabe! I'm kind of disappointed by harry's resurrection even though I know that Apotheosis and resurrections are necessary to complete the heroic journey. Voldemort's death was disappointing: the death curse is too powerful and too much like a deus ex machina. The power to kill with one spell is a bad plot device, especially with Voldemort's death. It's like saying, Voldemort pulls out a gun, shoots Harry but the bullet ricochets and Voldemort ends up shooting himself in the head. Yes, it wasn't easy and they had to destroy all of the horcruxes and Harry had to die first - I'm just wondering if there could have been a better ending. The epilogue was a bad idea. Knowing that Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione have married and had children disappoints me. I'm sure stories will be written about James II, Albus Severus, and Lily II Potter but the closure somehow frustrates me.

i admit, i was convinced there was NO WAY i thought rowling could answer major questions. but she did. it was fantastic. the action sequences moved so quickly, i was like 'stoooop!'. the part where the story seemed to drag on and i was saying 'get on with it!' were actually very skillful in their execution--if you think about it, during war, there are times of lulls where you just wait, and fear, and do all that you can. at one point, i thought that she was using a cheap 'out'...until i realized that the groundwork had been laid in book 4. sheer genius. i get chills thinking about each and every chapter--'kreacher's tale', 'the prince's tale', each and every encounter with voldemort...i have to say, i felt 'eh' about harry--he was a good enough character, but slightly irritating, for the most part. this book, however, i saw what rowling did--a true hero. i also have to say, tho, hermoine is my hero. bar none, my favorite character. snape is a very close second, for the sheer pathos of his story. my heart positively broke at the end of 'the prince's tale'. it's not good to cry at work, let me just say. the deaths were sad...but far less heartbreaking than they could have been. in times of catastrophe, you really can't dwell too long on the dead, when you have to worry more about survival.
i have never been so enthralled in a book that i literally found i was craning my neck and face into the book, hoping to divine more from the story. i will re-read this...repeatedly. ah! the beauty of books!

Wow - great book, straight through the ending - I love how she ended it! I read some of the reviews on amazon that weren't too positive (written by fans), and although I agree with a lot of their points I still enjoyed the book immensely, both for itself, and also as an end to the series. As some of the reviews stated it was a bit predictable in places (she doesn't seem to mind that anywhere in the series really), there was a bit too much monologueing (though amazingly it wasn't done by the evil overlord, but by the hero quite often - I found this hilarious when thinking about it after the fact), the central characters seem to get out of too many scrapes by the skin of their teeth (this isn't exactly extraordinary for the series though), the action was a bit slow through a lot of the book (though for what they were doing it didn't seem strange to me - perhaps our movie culture is expecting straight action all the way through) and *spoilerwarning* I was surprised that Mooney and Tonks died offscreen. I did like how she wrapped things up 19 yrs later instead of just ending soon after the final battle. In a way it seemed really strange to me that the final battle occurred at Hogwarts - it felt appropriate for the series but wrong for the story somehow, like she was trying to make it fit. Maybe I was subconsciously expecting the Cracks of Mount Doom or Dragonmount or something, I don't know... it just seemed strange that it was all coming together there... though in the end she sucked me into the action anyway and it made for some great details for that battle.

To be totally honest, I didn't enjoy the book as much as the other books. Yes I was extremely excited to read it, probably more so than the other books, but only because it was the final installment. I found the deaths necessary to accentuate the true happenings in a war but the story just was not up to par with the most recent installments of the series. I was quite bored when Harry, Hermione, and Ron were hiding cause it was just not enjoyable and to simple. And the ending was also to simple, the fight between Harry and Voldemort lasted all of half a page. Voldemort also died in a death that was unfit for him, he should have died a more cruel death. Especially considering how evil he truely is, how could he not fight back, even a little. But for those readers who were dissapointed as I was, can mostly be blamed for our dissapointments. We set such high standards for J.K. Rowling because of her excellent series that we expect certain things and when we fail to acquire, we are therefore unhappy with the result. Also I was sad that this was the final installment, and I was attached to the wizarding world as we have come to know it. But the ending left so many more questions that went unanswerd, like how the ministry was being run, or what happened to those Death Eaters not killed during the war. All in all the book was good, but not as good as I expected it to be. It seemed quite rushed because as I said, lots of things went unanswered. But Kudos to J.K. Rowling for finally completing an amazing series that had us readers intranced from the beginning. Please do not be angered by how I feel about the book, it is after all my review.

 Alrighty-o.
This was an extremely good book.

BY THE WAY THIS HAS SPOILERS!
SPOILERS!

SO DON'T READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED!

Alright. However, I thought since it had to end, it was slightly more ... commercial than the others. I loved it, but the 6th is still my favorite.
The Deathly Hallows were in an interesting touch, and I like them because they are not RANDOM! If you look on the spine of the 6th book, British version, you'll find that (straight out of JK Rowling, I might add) there's a picture of the cracked ring and if you look super close there's the hallows mark on it.

I was in tears when Dobby died. I love house elfs. Also, Hedwig came as quite a shock.

Those things go double for Fred. Killing a member of the Weasley family was necessary, but the cruelest thing rowling did in this book was kill a Weasley twin, leaving the other, earless and alone? Unexpected and sad.

I so called the whole Snape thing, but it was done/portrayed better than I expected.

I thought the idea that Harry had to sacrifice himself and then didn't was very interesting and good. Does anybody actually compltely totally one hundred percent how Voldemort died? Please clue me in.

And the epilogue... I'm glad there was one, it was needed to shut up eager fans, but it was stupid corny and badly written. It sounded like something off of fa n fiction.

Well I'm done now! =]

After being apart of my life for years, i have to say, like JK herself said, it was good, but at the same time painful to let go of something that has been a big part of my life. This book change me forever and if ever met Jk, words could not express how much these books have meant to me. Deathly Hallows was the best of all the books, and the epilogue fit perfectly......and harry coming back to life was absolutely genius....I cried when Dobby died....and that says alot, since i HATE crying....

Thank you Jk Rowling for helping me realize that being yourself is the most important thing, and that Death is not the worst thing, and when you realize that, you can learn to live your life...I can't believe it's over, but i plan to read it all the time; whenever I need something to help me keep moving on....and I am surely passing this on to others kids, and hopefully, if some higher force allows, to children I might have in the future, just like Harry, Ron, and Hermione!!!

The best book I have ever read, and will ever read in the future....*tears*.
no one will know what happens until they read the book, all the spoilers u read, including the supposed hacker, might all be false.......and some might be true, due to people all around mentioning all the main characters names as dying...

i think it is all just making it more exciting, and i def. am done finding "spoilers" and am ready to figure it out myself!!!!!!!!!!

YAY for JULY 21st!!!
i am not done yet, but AMAZING, even though i know spoilers, AMAZING!!!!!!

And on another note, these books are not kids' books anymore. They are not "all the world is good and happy" People have died, and more will. The gang is having to deal with and accept there is a dark side to the world. Just like our world, there is evil, and things do not end up all resolved. Believing that any character that is dead will come back is just silly.
She has been very adament that when people die in Harry's world, they are dead. And also that Dumbledore is in fact very dead. That is also why Harry could in fact, die. But on the same note, for her to kill Harry would disappoint millions and millions of readers. Some (and I for one) have put our hearts in to these characters. And on another note, although it seems that evil can prevail in some instances in the book, in every book, there is always that underlying theme that good conquers all. To betray that and sacrifice the reason that kids who never had any interest in reading have now picked up books and really read something would be against her very nature.
You know the people who make stupid comments like "overrated" & "Wow this is incredibly lame. People you are sad" are really missing out, you know that they haven't read it. It also really speaks to their intelligence that they are making discouraging remarks about a book. Pretty sure they've not picked up many in their lives.

On another note check out this article. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19631825/
That worries me a little.... :-( Obviously it is a character that she really cares about (not that she doesn't appreciate all her characters, even the evil ones)
And she changed the last word of the book.

Uhh… from where should I start? Ok. Hear me say JK, you are truly a witch and you know how to bewitch the muggles, us.
This is the first English book which has 607 pages I finished reading within 30hrs. I had coffee, green tea and water for drinks and just cup noodles.

I was so afraid to log into any messenger in case one of my contacts would be writing something about the ending of HP in his/her status message.

Most of the chapters were god damn dark and I am not sure that I was breathing sometimes. I was sucking my thumb and biting my nails while reading.

I don’t like that one of my favourite character was dead. It’s Fred, one of the Weasely twins. I always like the twins since from the beginning. Lupin and Moodey were dead and some more character, too.

And as Rupert guessed (should I say hinted?) in one interview, Snape turned out to be a hero-like character. And the Malfoys were no longer at the side of the Dark Lord.

Yes, Voldemort was dead and Harry survived and. Harry married with Ginney and so were Ron and Hermione. The epilogue was “19 years later” and I’m quite satisfied with its ending.

Every muggle, Hail to the amazingly talented Miss Rowling who brought us a world we always dream of and I do appreciate her for letting every child’s hero live. (I’m not a child though.)

This is the final and last of all Harry Potter books. I truly enjoyed this book so much. I really loved the action, romance, and the thrill of this book. I've always been a big fan of Harry Potter. I have read all of the books and seen all the movies, excpet the last 2 that are coming out soon in theaters, which I'm will be good as the others. I think J.K. Rowling did a fantastic job on making these books. This is my favorite book of all books. I use to love Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but when I read this book I couldn't stop reading. I finished this book in like 2 days. See I am really glad that Harry finally destroyed Lord Voldemort, married his true love Ginervia Molly Weasley a.k.a Ginny Weasley and are still great friends with the 2 friends that have followed him through everything, Hermione Jane Granger and Ronald Billius Weasley who are finially together, thank goodness. lol I truly have to say that I was kind of upset about losing a few people during the creations of these books. R.I.P: Fred Weasley, Mad-Eye Moody, Nemphadorus Tonks, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, James and Lilly Potter, Cedric Diggory and Albus Dumbledore (The Greatest Wizard of Our Time). I truly say J.K. Rowling has kept me on my seat while reading the Harry Potter series. I hope that she continues writing, she has brought Adults and Chidren a great series of books. If you haven't read any of the Harry Potter books get started these books will fill you up with imagination and a sense of adventure. If you have I hope you enjoyed these books as much as I have. Harry Potter RULES!!

incase anyone was wondering in recent interviews with J.K. she intended to not give in detail what happened to all of the survivors and what not
she might right a harry potter encylopedia however giving us all the details we need on those survivors even though it still wont due!

haha but anyways I've already reviewed this book but that's okay because it's amazing and so is J.K. and harry potter life
I'm so sad, it's over. I am forcing myself not to believe it, and have, ever since I finished it been reading here and there till I finally decided to start again and been watching 1-4 of the movies and it's special features.

haha because I'm that sad that I just cant handle being without it, I am also intending to go see OOTP once again, to get my fix for awhile on that movie before it leaves theaters and takes a year to come out on dvd.
annnyways GOOOOOD FREAKIN BOOK!

but sad...verrrry sad=[ I cried a whole freakin lot, it was unreal
As emotional as this was for me to read it, due to it being the last book of the series it was amazingly good, and hard to put down. J.K. Rowling has created an amazing world for any kid, teenager, or even adult to escape into. It was very satisfying to me, ever bit of it. and though it was sad with the deaths that occured you knew they did not die in vain. (sorry a little corny) but anyway I extremley loved the whole entire series and especially this book.

Thanks J.K. I owe you so much.
*write, sorry

harry potter in general is just amazing, and some of the ideas in this book were fantastic, such as the deathly hallows(as someone below has said), and the ending was fitting, an excellent moral ending for children, but i thought the last section "nineteen years later" was cheesy and closed off readers imaginations, not allowing everyone to wonder what happens after harrys victory and make up personal alternative endings. The naming of harrys children was really cheesy, but i thought it was brilliant that harry calls severus the bravest man he ever knew.
my favourite part of this whole book was actually the memories that snape allows harry to see(it made me cry!), i hope they present it properly in the film.
I also loved seeing harry mature into the brave man he is when he faces voldemort and death, when he suggests voldy should feel remorse, as you can see harry is truly selfless and the way he doesnt want help to fight voldemort, or resort to using avada kedavra.
i wish harry had got some sort of reward for his defeat of voldemort, or we found out he had achieved his goal of becoming an auror (even though i doubt he would want to work at the ministry!), it seems a bit wrong that he saved wizard kind and is reduced to just another man dropping off his children to school.
still, i love harry potter always, i cant wait to see the sixth film, my favourite book!

What can I say? The people who reviewed before me have said it all, the good and the bad. Well, personally I find Caroline, Yehuda and Marshalls reviews very interesting. If you want to hear it from a fourteen year old's point of view, here goes! :) I did not like how Moody died...I felt like he should have died in the Final Battle instead, as he is a powerful Auror. I hate Dung for betraying them. I feel, like everyone else, that Percy should have died instead of Fred...or why not George? I mean, Fred was alwways the funnier one...-.-And I agree that Molly should not have used a bad word...she could have called her a witch instead...or a pile of dung! xD I feel that the few weeks they spent in the forests were very...boring and useless. I liked the WWN! :D It was interesting...and I really liked the way they broke out of Gringotts. I did not like it when the trio seemed 'different' in the Epilogue and I did not like the way Nagini was in Bathilda Bagshot's body! That was yucky and when they do the movie, it's gonna be tough doing that scene. I also do not understand why Colin had to die! He was still so young! As for the complaints about the epilogue...J.K.Rowling is planning to write and Encyclopedia telling us about the characters' life after the war so chill! :)

I just wanted to express how deeply sadened I am that the Harry Potter series is over. For the last several years I have been imagining myself walking through the Hogwarts of Life - casting spells, avoiding danger, getting into trouble (thank goodness for the invisibility cloak), and warding off my own demise...right along side of Harry Potter himself. These books are a magnificent story of personal triumph, self-sacrifice, and the celebration of imagination itself.

When I closed the Dealthy Hallows...I was left with a sense of closure - a definite ending of an era. I sat and thought about all 7 books...and how is bares a remarkable closeness to Star Wars & the Bible combined. Good vs. Evil - as well as a mighty prophet and teacher destined to be a hero and savior to those that need his guidance.

On the other hand, I am happy that the series has come to close - and we finally know the true fate of Harry and everyone else in the books. I'm glad the Malfoy's end up looking like cowards to an extent. I'm intrigued by how they will portray everything in the final movie as well - considering that everything in this book seems necessary to include, right?! And the news has broken that JK Rowling has begun writing a new Scottish crime novel!

Okay, I will stop...but my adoration of Harry and his gang will never end!

Harry Potter taught my son to read, or at least ignited the flame in his heart. I think it was HP4, and he grew tired of waiting for his next reading session with his mother, so he took the book, hid himself away in a bedroom, and got stuck in all by himself.

About the same time I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and I read the first three books in the series before picking up the fourth book (now finished by everyone else in the family), hiding myself away in a bedroom, and getting stuck in.

And now the story is over. I must admit there were tears in my eyes at the end. To have come so far and through so much, it is a wrench to have it all end.

J R Rowling may not write deathless prose, but, by jingo, she knows how to tell a story! She has a gift for details and names that is essential to creating a believable, complete world. Her characters have a life of their own, and much as we think we might know Ron or Neville or even You Know Who, there's still a surprise in store. A surprise that is foreshadowed much earlier.

What a task, to envisage such a richly woven story, and to spin it out over a decade! Hats off to JK!

As for the book, apart from the poignancy of knowing it was the last, it was a great read, holding my interest, and drawing me into it at every free moment. And you know what? I think I'll go back and start at the beginning, re-reading the series in light of what I now know.

This is by far the best of the Harry Potter series, Rowling has surpassed herself with this one.

I was totally unable to put this down, you have to read all of the previous books prior to reading this one (a worth wile endeavour in any case) but you wont be dissapointed.

Many loose ends are tied up with this book, so if you have been annoyed by parts of the previous stories that havent made sense - this should have all that sorted out.

There is an incredible amount of action throughout the book (Any film of this should be amazing - as long as they make it really long and fit everything in) but this very thrilling action packed story is also filled with emotion - love, fear, grief, sadness are but a few of the many Rowling has managed to feature throughout this book. The characters have taken on a new lease of life previously locked away from us, she has moulded all these figures into deep and interesting people - there is a bit of everyone in there.

At the end of the story I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Unfortunately Rowling added in an epilogue (which seemed unnecessary to me) that was not up too the quality of the rest of the book, I suppose she may have really wanted to move away from the burden of an open ended story and wanted to add a really happy vibe to the readers experience - If only she had realised that she had through telling such a fantastic story in the first place.

This is a superb end to a superb series!

When I got it - I didn't want to start reading - then the series would be over..

However I finally overcame that and started reading - I didn't want to have anything spoiled by someone else either!

I thought it was a great book, although the deaths really hit hard - especially Hedwig and Dobby. When I first read Hedwig's death my first thought was that if JKR could kill Hedwig - she could kill Harry and that was hard to overcome.

I'm not sure about the ending - just because it really felt like a fanfic at the end. I'll have to re-read it and get another look at it. Maybe it will make more sense the 2nd time around.

Overall - I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who is a Harry Potter fan and who, lilke me, has been waiting patiently for the conclusion of this series.
I don't want to say too much - others haven't read it yet and I don't want to spoil it for anyone....

let me just say - it took me 24 hours to read this.. so I'm glad it's the last in the series - obviously my stamina for long bouts of reading is not what it used to be!

And some chapters I have to go back and re-read today - just to clear up in my head exactly what happened..

A few of the deaths were shocking to me - others not quite so much... and characters who I thought might not survive actually did..

JKR has left us enough unanswered questions that we still have lots to discuss and speculate, Bless her! She does know us fans well!

JKR - we salute you and thank you for an awesome ride over the past few years!

This was a great book, but it is sad to see it all end (or so we think..ha ha). I do have to say that since I am a child at heart, I did have to leave a 1/2 star unmarked, because I was sad that not very much of the story took place at the Beloved Hogwarts! Also, I felt that it was almost a little TOO dark, but in order to get to the end of the book and to answer many questions, it had to be that way. I really loved the idea that so many characters were brought back to the last book, but at the same time I was almost overwhelmed by all of them. Keeping characters separate and trying to remember who was who kind of got to me. Perhaps I should not have waited months and months in between each book. I have not seen the last movie yet, but I am very excited about it just the same! I would recommend this entire series to so many people, and I have the entire set of books here at my house. I plan on passing them down to my daughter. If nothing else, I would recommend the movies!

It's unfortunate that you have to read through the previous six books in order to enjoy this one. You should definitely read through those six books, and they are awesome, but this is such a great book that if it stood by itself, it would be a great study piece for writing and literature.

Each of the main characters and many of the side characters have their own epic story arcs that complete their growth and form the pivotal part of their lives. This is accomplished despite the fact that Harry Potter is written in the *tightest* third person limited perspective that I have ever seen.

The story has so many parallels in Arthurian mythology (grail hunting), Christianity (love, self-sacrifice, heroic underdogs), and modernism (flawed central characters, loss, etc.) that it would be easy to miss some, but none of these things distract from the story. In fact, it's entirely possible to read the story and see nothing but an engrossing read.

It also contains what has to be one of the greatest fantasy battles to ever take place. The campaigns of Lord of the Rings and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe can't touch the battle for Hogwarts.

And Neville is the MAN. So say we all.

Okay. Let me just say that since this is the last book it's tearing me apart into pieces. I can't believe HP is about to end. My adolescence has been devoted to Harry and the magical world. It's heartbreaking to think that their canonical stories are over. Thank god for fanfiction.

Anyway, everything has finally been explained. It makes me in awe of JK and her imagination, which is so vast it can rival Tolkein's and NOT Stephanie Meyer's, which is just an utter joke.

But I digress. Here, we finally have the war and many favorite characters die in DH (Fred?! Dobby?! Hedwig? Even Moody and Moony!) It was such a roller coaster ride where the Malfoys found some sort of redemption, Bellatrix was finally destroyed and all the Mauraders (without Wormtail) + Lily came back a final time to support Harry. God, what a scene.

The only thing I really have a problem is the Epilogue, which is such a bleh thing for me. We call it EWE, meaning Epilogue, What Epilogue? A very nifty play on words there. But despite that, it was still my second favorite of the entire series (nothing will be able to beat HBP) in my list.

I cant say that it is my favorite book.........but don't get me wrong because it was AWESOME..........The best chapter had to be the "Seven Potter" because it kept me to the edge of my seat the whole time.......i had no idea what was going to happen.........I have to say that i thought it was kinda funny what happened to Ron's brother.........the action slowed down a bit in the middle but even so there were little parts in there when it sped back up like when they went into the ministry and the wizarding bank............it might sound that i am beating up on the book but i did think it was very good......i think i was expecting something different so the build up of excitement kind of went down when i read it...........i was surprised about Snape's memories.........It was still very good!

STOP HERE IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!!!

I thought that the way Voldemort died was a little fast..........i was kind of disappointed when she didnt explain what careers everyone ended up with, i wanted to know if Harry became a Auror.........

Now the good stuff:
There was tons of action and thrilling moments that kept my heart racing like when Harry was taken to Malfoy's mansion........I think that J. K. Rowling has the best imagination ever because i could not have thought of this and i thought that the way she tied everything together was awesome........whenever i had a question she would answer it.........i really encourage her to write many more book like this series......i enjoyed these books so much and alway anticipated the best with every book which delivered every time!.......thanks for the fantastic journey of Harry Potter!

I loved it! I'm only disappointed that it's the end and I don't know what really happened to the characters that survived. I mean, Neville's a teacher, the couples got married, etc., but what is Harry doing with his life? And Ron? And what about George Weasley and the joke shop? Those are the only questions I really have and the only thing I think that really was missing from this final book. I was sad when people (and others) died, but I knew it would happen.

I have so many favorite parts, there's no way to list them all... Kreacher's change toward Harry and his aid, finding out the truth about Snape and his doe patronus, escaping Voldemort time and again, Harry finally controlling their connection, and then there's Molly's now famous line and defeat of Bellatrix. Being a mother myself, I totally understand! I love that Harry lived to marry Ginny and the names they gave their children. I still smile at the part when Cho Chang offers to show Harry the Ravenclaw common room and Ginny basically shrieks out that Luna will take him. So sweet Ginny. It's all those little funny moments that keep you going through this long, torturous book. Torturous because it seemed to take forever to finally get at the truth and for Harry to find his true path. Once he got there, the book moved so fast it was nearly a blur. But I loved it nonetheless.

I loved it!!! I had my copy on hold for almost 4 months or more! I was a little surprised because I expected Jo to give a little more detail about how Teddy was growing up with Harry as a godfather. I bawled my eyes out when I read the line about Tonks and Lupin laying next to eachother in the Great Hall, because I desperately wanted one of them to live so their child would have a parent to grow up with. I could totally see the Harry/Ginny and Hermione/Ron combo wrapping to a close so I wasn't that surprised to find that at the end. I made family trees with the four of them and Draco too, so that I could get straight whose kids were who's. For the entire series I was a Slytherin fan. I made Malfoy/Slytherin shirts for the book parties for this book and the 6th book. Somehow I knew that Malfoy was not a bad person inside and I was ecstatic that the trio helped Malfoy out a few times towards the end.... I still like Malfoy's character and it wouldv'e been nice to find out who his wife was. I still feel like there could be a continuation for the series... I feel a little empty when I think about the fact that this is the last book and I will not be reading of any new adventures of the Golden Trio. I seriously give props to J.K. Rowling for being able to capture children and their imaginations with such an amazing series. I hope one day to be able to catch children's eyes with a book I write. She gives me inspiration that anything's is possible if I just believe in my book and see it through til the end! I love this book!!!

A sad disappointment. So many screw ups regarding her own universe she created, the Fidelius Charm was changed, Hermione's middle name was changed, and the random romances she pulled out of thin air were irksome. The power of love wasn't even used, it was the deathly hallows and dumb luck. The battle scenes were good, and so were chapters 16-18, some deaths were written very well, and others were just unnecessary and confusing. Sirius was still unaccounted for in grief, which was also an annoyance. Ginny, I was glad to see, was not Super!Ginny, but still there and her old fangirl self, and her romance with Harry made absolutely no sense. Hermione with Ron was horrible, she dumbed herself down for him and her whole character was basically murdered except for chapters 16-18. The ending was HORRIBLE. The Epilogue ruined any redeeming qualities, just skip it, ignore it, just pretend it doesn't exist... It was horridly cliche and trite.
While I did like some things in this book, I was sorely disappointed. Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows are my least favorite and I won't read them again. I'm read the first five a total of 68 times all together, but the last two will sit on my shelf. I'll turn to fanfiction for the end of the series, I guess she ran out of brilliance.
