The Harry Potter series has been a huge part of my childhood. And were the books that originally got me into reading, before the philosopher’s stone I had never read a book just because I wanted too, if any book can change a young Childs attitude to reading. It’s special in itself. However this book has changes so so many children’s attitude to reading and has made them love the stories and lifestyle that is “HARRY POTTER” from book 1 where Dumbledore takes Harry to his aunties doorstep to book 7 where Harry and his wife Ginny name their son after him, it’s a story about growing up and magic

I first started reading Harry Potter in tenth grade, before it became what it is today. I remember the excitement of each newly published book. Each book brings you to a world of imagination, and wizards, and magic, and you put your mind out on a totally different level. The books are a great! Theres everyday "normal" problems, along with wizardly problems, plus the added stress of school. Well written. The movies don't always go alongside the books, but if it did then the movies would be 5 or more hours long to explain everything. I loved the Harry Potter Books, almost as much as I currently love twilight. :)

The Harry Potter series were well written by J.K. Rowling. Personally, I feel she set the path for authors to right in their own imagination more. She uses words and names like no other. Nearly every person doesnt even know how to pronounce this and that, which at times can be a little frustrating when you are trying to read fluidly. The plot is good in all of them. The whole story all together is twisted, sad, happy, and a little tormenting like how could J.K. Rowling do this and that! Some character endings are heart-breaking. The epilogue for the seventh book, I wish was a little more detailed, but I am glad at the ending of happiness and one of those 'happily ever afters' without really saying that. But with the happy ending, there came few prices with characters. Overall, it was good .

The Harry Potter series has to be an all-time favorite of mine! I have the paperbacks on my shelf at school, and they're always with a kiddo. I have the hardbound copies at home, waiting for the day my daughter is old enough to read them to. The mystery and magic that it brings to a reader is something that is hard to recreate. I also appreciate the controversy that has been stirred up by the "book of magic." When an adult criticizes a book and tells a child not to read it, the child immediately seeks this book out. This book has made children want to read and keep reading. We're grown to love Harry and his adventures, and as a teacher and a parent, I'm happy to keep this series in the hands of children!

What can I say? This series in its entirety is our generation's dark, iconic magical Bildungsroman: though the characters are occasionally annoying, short-sighted and otherwise flawed, they are mirrors of our own selves at that age. Jo Rowling might not technically be our generation's best writer, but she is an amazing storyteller and bard. I'll always be a fan of the Harry Potter series, Philosopher's Stone to Deathly Hallows.

I've read a lot of fantasy, and this is derivative in a bad way, with an obvious and stilted conclusion. Rowling relies heavily on stereotypes and never develops any characters outside of their archetypical cages. Sirius Black was cool based on the hype, but he dies like a deer in highway traffic before we get to know him well enough to realize that Rowling isn't talented enough to actually write him. I feel that like Sirius Black, Harry Potter should have died before we realized that he was too much for Rowling to handle.

I loved this series - and J.K. Rowling - simply because she managed to get millions of people to pick up a book, some probably for the first time in their lives.

its Harry Potter come one? well these were my favorite books of my teen years. J.K Rowling is an amazing author and a truly creative person. Very awesome!
what can I say its Harry Potter? Of course the books were amazing...all seven. I loved how J.K Rowling proved that people aren't just black and white but there is both in all of her characters. Also that things can't be seen at face value. its also cool that I share the same b-day as Harry Potter.
Its Harry Potter come on? Another childhood favorite although mostly durimg my teen years. I cna't pick out a particular thing I loved most about it because I loved everything about the whole series. This is a very original story/idea and J.K Rowling is awesome.

Harry Potter has been a part of my life for almost a decade...half of mylife span so far. I remember finding "The Philosophers Stone" in a scholastic magazine for nine dollars. I remember being captivated, and cast under J.K Rowlings magical spell. I was in Hogwarts right there beside Harry...in a way it helped me through my own school years, I could really relate to the books even though they were set in a fantastical world where everything impossible was very much possible. I remember people asking me, "Who's Harry Potter?" A question you would never be asked nowadays. I was there for every year waiting eagerly at 9am for the next installment...ready to run home lock myself in my room and be all set for another adventure. It saddens me that the adventure is over, that there are no more pages to be read...They were some of the best years of my life. They surpass the movies beyond comprehension. Harry Potter inspired the world to read...Harry never ceases to amaze me.

Bare in mind I don't actually have the boxed set, but I've read all of the Harry Potter series.

First off, I want to say that J.K. Rowling did a fantastic job in writing an entertaining series. Second, I would like to point out, that while the books are entertaining, they contain quite a lot of things I don't agree with.

As a Christian, I was inclined first to just ignore the objectionable content, but I found my conscience convicted. For starters, no one can deny this book is about magic- more importantly "good" magic vs. "bad" magic. I realize that most of the stuff in HP cannot be replicated (i.e. the spells are not real). But, one cannot deny the occasional occult reference (which the author must have researched and added). The absense of God and the idea given to younger readers that if you say the right things and do the right motions, you can have great power beyond your wildest dreams is frankly disturbing.

I'm not saying we should all go burn Harry Potter books, but more that we should not allow young children to read them. Children imitate what they see. If they see characters who use "good" magic to help people, they are inclined to be more interested in magic in general.

Even I got sucked up in the thrill of the stories. I found I was paying more attention to Harry Potter than I was to my relationship with Jesus Christ, so I've decided not to read them anymore. I also feel that as a Christian I could be setting a bad example for young people saying that "fake magic" is good and fine to read about, etc. but real magic is bad.

God warns us to stay away from all forms of magic, divination, and the like. He also calls us not to be immitators of evil. But anyways, that's probably the longest review I've ever written.. haha but I needed to get that off my chest.

Keep in mind I'm not judging those who enjoy and like to read Harry Potter. Everyone should come to their own decision about whether or not to read these books based on their convictions.

I love Harry Potter! JK Rowling created such an amazingly believable world, one that I wish actually existed. The early books are very much children's books--simple, kind of goofy, and still very good. My favorite of these is The Chamber of Secrets; I think it's the funniest, mainly because of the absurd Professor Lockhart. My true and absolute favorite is the fifth, The Order of the Phoenix. Harry is no longer the sweet innocent kid--he is an angry teenager. I remember being so irrationally angry at times as a teenager. Also, the end of the book, where Harry is mourning his deceased friend, perfectly captures the anger and grief of mourning.

What's so appealing about the Harry Potter books? Every fan has a different answer. In my opinion, the fun comes from the maturing of the characters over time. J.K. Rowling wrote her teenage heroes very convincingly, giving them all the quirks and inconsistencies of real adolescents. They lie, they sleep in class, they dream of doing away with their teachers. The magic and elaborate detail is a backdrop for the rich character development. Of course, Rowling's imaginative world, which is populated with everything from sport edition broomsticks to blood-filled lollipops, is just as impressive. You'll be surprised at how fast you can read though these books, despite some of them clocking in close to a thousand pages.

I read the whole series, and had fun doing so, but I could never really feel comfortable with the historically evil characters being the heroes. I mean, come on, good little witches? Have you read Lewis, Shakespeare, ...the Bible? Nevertheless, my biggest beef with this series is not the sorcery, which is not dangerously realistic but very creative. What most concerns me is the blatant disregard for rules, and the stubborn refusal by the author to include any behavior worth emulating. Harry is consistently a jerk, making perpetually absurd choices, never learning from them, and always concluding as the hero. I prefer a story with a real hero. Otherwise, they were a lot of fun, and certainly gripping.

Critics may argue that the Harry potter series is no great work of literature and also that it does no glory to English language but I know ( and I bet Billions around the World also) that never have I come across such a complete fantasy life where there is no loophole in the story. The best screenplay I can ever think about is in the Harry Potter Series.I have lived the life of a Wizard every time I have read it and I Know that it will never fade from my memory till my last breath. The whole theme of "friendship, respect and love are the greatest feelings on Earth" on which the narrative is based is so satisfying that the reader can just not stop visualizing from being a part of the beautiful world created by Rowling. Its my Bible and strange it may sound, I believe that there is such a world with all the mentioned characters and events.God Bless J.K.Rowling and Harry Potter. I will always be indebted to you for a lot of Reasons.

The Harry Potter series is an extraordinary book that takes you into a wizarding world. You meet many different kinds of creatures from Cenateurs, Unicorns, to much much more. You also are introduced to an evil villan named Lord Voldemort, [AKA He Who Must Not Be Named]. The 7 books go through all of Harry's Battles, it is an enjoyment to read, also it is fun. The movies are almost as good, and we still await the last 3. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is supposed to be coming to Theaters November 2008.

I didn't want my kids to read these books for the longest time because of a concern over the witchcraft element, which turned out to be a good thing because once we did start reading the series we went through them very quickly and only had to wait for the final two to be published. I screened the first book before putting it in the hands of my kids and was pleasantly surprised at not only how well-written it was, but I liked that the characters were born with the "gift" of magic and in need of proper training (as opposed to hormonal teens dabbling in the occult). Each book develops the main characters further, plots and sub-plots gain strength, surprises catch you off guard and by the second or third book you really care what happens to them and how the events will turn out. I even got misty-eyed when certain characters gave their lives for the cause. Highly recommended for well-grounded and balanced pre-teens to adults.

I absolutely love Harry Potter! I had every book the day they came out! This is a collection I will pass on! I do wish there could be one more book but it's not really necessary to have one. She's a great author. She planned her books well. She said there were 7 years@ Hogwarts and stuck with that despite the high demand for another! If she made another people would only want another then another. Harry Potter is a character I've become addicted to. Maybe a few years from now she'll creat something different and people won't compare the new to Harry!

Harry Potter. A classic in its own right. These books sweep you away in a cloud of fantasy, adventure, and excitement. You'll find yourself wanting to read and experience more even after plowing your way through all 7. And honestly, if you become attached to these books (which is almost guaranteed), they practically become a part of your life. Worth reading. Personally my favorite books in the whole wide world cause when I was reading them I felt like I was leaving this world behind me and entering something new something exciting and wonderful. I think every one should read all of them and discover a little wizard inside
The Best Series EVER !!!Totally AMAZING !!!!
