Going is slow so far. When it's from her point of view it's about sex and when it's about his point of view its about blowing a lot of hot air out of his ass. Mind you I'm only about twenty pages in but my ADHD has made me wander off to something that has a quicker payoff.

It holds it's own in English literature. For those of you who like a rating, it's bit racy.

What amazed me about this book was Lawrence's ability to capture a woman's complex emotions about sex and point out, subtley, that women, too, can seperate sex from love for merely pleasure. Of course he sells out in the end, but you can't blame romantics for being who they are. The beginning passages, about the joy of talking to a man, but how men "insist on the sex thing like dogs," (or something like that, anyway) was such an astute and painfully pertinent observation during the time of my life that I read this book that I'm certain that has a lot to do with why I loved it so much.

A moving love story, of self denial due to social position & how the expectations and opinions of others can smother our inner souls and cloud our lives if we allow it.
How breaking a stereotype can be difficult and painfull and learning how to let go of what others think and say in favour of our own happiness.

Interesting book of how men's and women's relationships were viewed by society back in the day. Wouldn't deserve a paper bag to hide it these days though.

It was well worth a read.

I know it's a classic, but I was bored out of my mind. So sue me. I honestly could not relate to any of the characters or the extremely dreary world they lived in.
