It was a little bit predictable. And never really picked up. The characters were flimsy. I'm not sure if the ending was agreeable. Sorry, but probably wouldn't read it again...

Asimov has a nasty habit of making academicians singular heroes. Despite being a childhood fan of Asimov, I've long since grown tired of the idea that academics are uniquely able to handle complex social problems is itself problematic. That aside, Asimov always focuses mainly on the reasoning behind what is going on and a twist at the end. On both accounts, this book falls short. The reasoning you gather in the first quarter of the book and the disappointing twist happens in the last twenty pages. That leaves a lot of the book that seems to wonder aimlessly. It is not terrible, but it leaves unexplained the terror of the stars and leave open what happens to what we are lead to believe early on are our primary characters. My primary problem with this book can be summed up that I was never made to care what happened. Had the focus been on one or two characters, this book may have gone farther, but it was a long string of unconnected mediocrity.

This was a recommended by a friend. It's a science fiction book, which is a genre i'm not too fond of. It was entertaining till i got to the end, which was a clusterfuck of retarded.
