I don't usually read Dean Koontz, but I liked this book a lot. The pacing and characters are folksy, but the sense of impending doom keeps growing and making the story increasingly creepy without too much gore (though there is some -- gentle readers, beware).

I love Odd Thomas. I've read all the books in the series. Odd is a hero easy to love. His character is amazingly naive and gentle. In spite of all the violence around him he lives with the eternal hope that the next time it will be different.

Amazing. I love this book and Odd is the most wonderful male character I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. Koontz does a fantastic job of writing a compelling, page-turning novel that allows every reader to be on the edge of their seat. I would recommend this book to just about anyone.

The entire series is very good overall. One of the few stories where the plot has not been heard or hashed and re-hashed to everyone on the planet.

My favorite Dean Koontz book. All of his books are light reading. There's always a heavy dose of the mystical, magical, and unbelievable in them. But sometimes that's what I'm looking for. The writing is crisp, and the plot moves along at a pace I enjoy. His books are creepy, sometimes gross. He just can't seem to help himself. He has to include at least one scene with vomit in every novel. That, I could do without. All in all, I like his books, even if the stories tend to get predictable after you've read a couple.
