Myra has had her share of problems and losses. I love how Feist gave us an inside look on the Tursani world.

The least interesting book of the series. I've had it for a year now on my shelf and have made a number of serious attempts to finish it. I haven't succeeded yet!
It's a lot slower that the other two books and there are pages upon pages where nothing happens except people sitting down to talk, drink tea or stare out the windows.
Very disappointing.

The political tactics are so refined and deadly at the same time. Easily one of the books that leave the deepest impression in me.

Janny Wurts and Raymond Feist did their best work with these series. It was nice to see the Riftware Saga meet up with the Empire series and really get to see the two sides of the final battles in the Riftwar Saga.

I was looking forward to this one, but gee, was it long. I love the portrayal of the "oriental" Empire culture, and the politics and military details are spot on, as always with Feist. But many characters, including Mara, failed to engage.

For some odd reason the cover, beautifully drawn, represents almost the very end of the book; and I cannot remember why Mara, in an oriental society, is drawn as African American. Was it explained in an earlier book?

Excellent series, with Feist's storytelling & Wurtz' talent for character development producing a rich and involving story.

Would recommend to any female young or old!
In the final book Mara must make a painful decision and receives a surprise in return.

Stopped half way through... Politics are not my thing, and this is heavy on the folly of describing to the point of boredom.
