Another good one from Asimov. I can't wait until I get to the next one in the series.

Asimov continues his daring ideas on the 4th installment of the Foundation series, but honestly it falls short in various aspects. The last quarter of the books changes tempo drastically and becomes "rushed", the climax that follows becomes predictable. Also, Foundation's Edge lacks the deepness that characterized the previous 3 books, the fact that Golan Trevize was chosen because he had the talent of "being right" and knowing what do to do was a cliche concept and lacked thoughtfulness. It was a good book, but nothing else.

Asimov wrote this book due to pressure from his fans and publisher, and in reality it shows. It didn't feel like he wrote it from the heart.

The 4th volume in Asimov's Foundation series, it was not written until 30 years after the original trilogy. It's focus is very different from the previous stories, following a single cast of characters as they grapple with the mystery of Seldon's plan still standing. Asimov creates a vivid galaxy of various cultures and conflicting schemes, and dares to raise the question of whether the plan Seldon concocted half a millennium previous is really the best path for the galaxy. Very good.

If you have never read this book and are into science fiction, there is something wrong. This book is a must read for anyone, sci fi or other wise. The first in the series that has been officially given the title of "Greatest Science Fiction series of all time" by the Hugo foundation. This book is so amazing you truely have to read it to understand why it is so good. and DO NOT wait to read the second book, read it right away. The story just gets better.
