Just started this one. Trying to keep characters straight as time has passed and main characters now seem to be grandchildren. Helpful family tree in the back pages of the copy I have.

Another great prequel to the Dune series. While there aren't as many 'revelations' as to the origins of the organizations as the other prequels, this books offers a lot more action and fighting than the other prequels.

Brian Herbert needs to re-read his fathers books to get correct spellings and maintain some semblance of continuity.

Some interesting moments and explanations of things that happened before Dune, but many chapters are boring or not interesting enough. Nothing compared to Frank Herbert's style and magic.

This trilogy was great. The plotline seemed to drag on a bit, and then end right at the end of the book. However, it was a satisfactory ending, and I must say that if I hadn't read these first, I'd be totally lost at the beginning of Dune.

If you're desperate for a Dune fix... this MIGHT take the edge off! the best part is letting Brian's horrible writing style fade from the page in front of you while you superimpose the imagined fleshy words of Frank Herbert on the plot skeleton.
