As usual, another great book from Dean Koontz. This book was so mysterious and riveting. I was not expecting the end at all and was a little dissapointed. Not because it was shocking enough or anything, but just because I had wanted it to turn out another way. But read it, for sure!!

I could empathise with Joe Carpenter, who a year ago (in the story) lost his wife and two young daughters in a horrific plane crash. He has panic attacks where he relives over and over again what he believes would have been their last moments. He feels there is no reason for living and is just drifting...when a bizarre turn of events see him participate in life once more with his main aim to discover what actually happened on Flight 353...against the odds!! This was a fast paced story which was exciting, thought provoking and had just the right amount of science in it to not get bogged down...and just the right amount of supernaturalis to give questioning humans more to wonder about.

It looks to me as if Koontz woke up one morning and said: "Drat! That publisher of mine demands a book by tomorrow! What can I dooo?? *despairs* Oh, wait, let's put in all the bestselling stuff... Hmm.. Deaths! Oh yeah! And a despairing, broken man.. who has a dark side! Yes, his daughters and wife have died and there's something fishy about that airplane crash.. A Big Bad American Corporation that is all about genetic engineering! Creating.. children with powerss, supervised by heartless scientists! And now, to prove my genius, I'll merge the science and religion! True visionary, my huble self! Yes, God, revelation of the afterlife, *insert magalomaniac shit here*.. Muahahaha..." To conclude, this book is about 200 pages too long, characters are 1D, 2D as its best, plot is a mess... I mean, in about 20 pages he describes the deep bond between Joe (despairing, broken man)and his mother-in-law, and never mentions it again! Yeah, you can tell that I read this book only to see if it gets better.. and it didn't!

Pretty damn good book...surprisingly powerful ending...really great last few pages...turned out to be quite interesting...I recommend it
