Ghosts, dark matter and spirits haunting and deaths and the humorous odd thomas in the mix of it was a great combination a page turner for sure, the best one out of the series for myself.

I really enjoyed this book - Koontz has excelled himself with this character and after reading this book I really want to read more about Odd Thomas. I was glad that Koontz took Odd out of the desert into the mountains for the setting of this book as I felt he had exhausted the adventures of Odd in Pico Mundo by the end of the second book. The story is not only gripping and full of adventure but is also very humorous, which makes it a real page-turner!

I have read just about everything by Koontz and I think the Odd Thomas serious was his best work. These books moved in you so many emotional directions. Between love, hate, fear, and happiness. I laughed out loud on several occasions through this series. This character is someone you just cant help but to love and laugh with.

Maybe my imagination isn't that great because the evil in the book was hard for me to envision. The story line and the characters were very good though. In my opinion, Odd's dry and morbid sense of humor makes his character so unique and enjoyable. If you like the Odd Thomas series, then make sure you read this installment.

Imaginative and totally in character for Odd, the book seems to take the hero exactly where he needs to go. Koontz lets Odd run free in this and go where the character wishes which really shows as the character progresses and opens up. I've read that Dean hadn't planned to make the series after Odd Thomas, but after finishing the first book began to see a larger scope of it and began writing the second before the first was finished publishing. I can only hope that the new books in the series are as good as this.

This book is not well written, but the main character probably remains Dean Koontz's best creation. The Odd Thomas books really get worse as the series continues, but my specific problem with this book is that the baddie is grounded in (psuedo)science rather than the supernatural. This could have been any Dean Koontz novel, it felt like reheated creative leftovers. I had hoped for more from this series.

Another great edition to the Odd Thomas series! additionally, it is a completely different story, adventure, and formula than the previous two which most authors don't do in a series. Hurray Dean Koontz for breaking pattern and being a badass! I was very sad to see a familiar face leave forever though.. ah well, here's to new adventures ahead!

A Dean Koontz review...to any reader of the Koontz, I can sum Brother Odd with few words: "new" Koontz, ODDly lovable, and excellent dialogue.

Put more in depth, this novel, the third Odd Thomas novel, was by far a new Koontz novel, which is to say it was knocked out with a chainsaw and not a chisel - quick, but no less fine work. I'm a fan of the earlier novels whose characters and plots developed like a fine hard candy - where his newer works, quoted with the intention of being turned out to tell as many stories as possible. And this was one such work. Personally, I think our brother Odd deserves more finely tuned and extensive writing...but gah...this new trend in Koontz novels, while brief is still written by a master and thusly very difficult to find flaw.

Odd Thomas is still one of the most amazing characters in fiction, Dean Koontz can still write dialogue with more wit than most of North America and Ireland combined. The story was fast, enjoyable, fun, deep, moving. It was what I expect from a Koontz novel about Odd Thomas. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates a friend found in literature - whether you like books about dogs and dead people, it's great. I'll read the next...voraciously.

Wow, this was really disappointing. I was really looking forward to this, the third book in the Odd Thomas series, because it had some great reader reviews. But it was disappointing for sure, with things wrapping up neatly and inexplicably right at the end. No wind up to the end and very little action. Boo. I don't even know if I want to read the latest book now.

Good story. Not as good as other "Odd books," but a worthy addition to the character's life.

I found this a little...well, a little odd to be honest. While I'm not a dedicated fan of Koontz I've generally enjoyed his books, however this one was just a little too strange for my liking...not so much the dead people talking via disabled children part, but the bone monster bit. I also found it overly full with pop culture references - but then I guess if you are going to include a recurring role for the ghost of Elvis in your story it's going to be difficult to avoid!

oDD IS,. well, Odd. Too good to be true, but to hopeful to not want to believe his goodness and calmness. Not for everyone, can be preachy, but there are a lot of little gems in these books.

Wish I'd realised that this was no#3 of a series with this character before I took it out, but you don't miss anything from the backstory as you're constantly filled in. Overall an enjoyable paranormal mystery, though I won't be in a hurry to read the first 2 books as I now know what to expect.

I love Dean Koontz. I love Odd Thomas. In fact, I love that Dean Koontz loves Odd Thomas enough to write a third (and I'm guessing, soon a fourth) book about him. So I may be a little biased in saying that BROTHER ODD is one of my favorite books of the year.

Odd has left Pico Mundo to join the nuns and brothers in a monastery. Although he's not taking his vows, he's been enjoying the peace and quiet--and relative safety--that being with these brothers and sisters of Christ has brought. He's also enjoyed the numerous children who live there, those who are physically or mentally handicapped, abandoned by their parents, sometimes even suffering at their hands.

Then, as always seems to be the case with Odd, the bodachs show up, and he knows that something bad has come to the monastery. But does it come from the novices, the brooding Russian, the brother who was once muscle for the Mob, the brother who is also a brilliant scientist, or from someone else entirely?

With his faithful dead sidekick, Elvis, and his faithful friends, and the sometimes strange memory and even stranger "spirit" of Stormy, Odd must work to keep the entire population of his new home safe from whatever danger lurks ever nearer.

This is another winner from Mr. Koontz, and the ending, of course, leaves it open for another book about the wonderful, amazing, flawed, and utterly lovable Odd Thomas.

Well worth picking up, BROTHER ODD will have you reading long into the night.
