Not one of Koontz's best. Not decided yet whether the ending is genious or lazy!

It was alright, not the best of the series. It was almost as though Dean Koontz didn't know what to write. The whole thing with the strange woman with no name and cryptic answers was completely annoying. And to suggest that she was Stormy reincarnated was anger inducing. Read "The Taking" by Koontz. A good creepy novel with some action thrown in.
Just started reading it a couple of days ago. I'll let you know.

Odd Thomas is such an appealing character . . . you just have to love him! Still, this book takes some extremely Odd twists. I like it . . . I'll surely read another one soon as Koontz releases one - heck, I'm reading an Odd Thomas manga, so clearly, I'll read anything Koontz puts out there, right? - yet this book left me feeling "huh?" I don't really get where Koontz is taking us with these Odd Thomas stories, and I'm not sure Koontz really knows either. Of all the books in this series thus far, I find this one the weakest entry, but no where near weak enough for me to miss the next one!

Very good Odd. Easier for me to relate to than the weird science in Brother Odd.
Good, solid Odd.

I am disappointed with this episode. I found it a little hard to stay focused because there is so much description that really doesn't lead any where. It starts off very slow and it's not until about 1/3 of the way in that the story begins to take shape. The book feels rushed, like Koontz wanted to get it written as quickly as possible therefore leaving much of the story unanswered.

Another great book in the Odd series by Dean Koontz. I was however, a bit disappointed with parts of the book. Some situations seemed a bit "forced" - how convient that Birdy happens to show up when she did, just being drawn to Odd, is just one example. Overall though, a pleasant and quick read.

This is the fourth book in the Odd Thomas series and it shows more amazing abilities that Odd has and is learning about himself. He is a character that is not a usually particular hero, yet he always ends up on top. All of the books in this series just keep getting better and through every book you find yourself becoming a bigger fan of Odd.

I could say "Sweet and Simple" but really, it's not fitting to this book. The reason why I am tempted to say that phase is because it is short, Odd Thomas is lighthearted and optimistic ... he finds a climax and goes with the flow with his special skills. This is not a complicated book, a more relaxed reading than Knootz's other books. Odd Thomas has entertaining conversations with different characters and with himself-- making this story seem absurd and out of place. But of course, Odd Thomas, himself is "out of place" which is fitting to this story.

I really love this series of books. My only gripe is that Koontz is writing to the old reader, as well as the new. There's so much character development and back-story that the series really pops. You get a feel for what Odd is going to do, say, etc. Unfortunately, he also plays to someone who never read the first 3 and rehashes old stories repeatedly. If the story happened in the 1st book, I heard the rehash in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Slightly frustrating, but overall a good read.

If you've read the other Odd novels you know by now Odd lives an interesting life. After leaving the monastery, Odd has decided to spend some time near the ocean or maybe it's his psychic magnetism that has pulled him to Magic Beach. Anyhow, as Odd will tell you he can never vacation from the spirits of the lingering dead or run from his ability that draws him mysteriously to his next destination. In this fourth installment in the Odd series events are coming that will change the world. In a dream Odd has seen this coming fate and without warning is thrown front and center into the mix. It's up to Odd to figure out how this change will occur and find a way to stop it before it's too late. Odd Hours is a good read and has some very memorable characters, but I would have to say my favorite books in the series so far has been Odd Thomas and Brother Odd with Odd Hours a close third.

A darker glimpse into the unique character of Odd. Even though it was different than the first two books, it was a great read.It was very different than the first two novels, but this character is so gripping that I will any book he is in. Plus, there are some little nuggets about Christopher Snow that die hard Koontz fans will catch onto quickly. Makes for a fun and enjoyable read.

I have really enjoyed the Odd series. Odd Thomas is a great character and I love the balance of suspensful situations and his sense of humor. That being said, this was not my favorite Odd book. I felt like the other 3 books could stand on their own, but Odd Hours just seemed like a lead-in for another book. It bothered me that the whole story led up to a rather anti-climactic conclusion and the end left more unanswered questions than anything else. I guess I'll have to wait for book 5 to find out what the point really was.

Odd Thomas is an interesting character with an interesting voice, and his first appearance was such a wonderful and interesting book. Odd Hours, unfortunately, is seriously lacking.

The story lines are getting a little bit silly. Bone monsters and nuclear weapons now. The first book was small and simple, and interesting. I don't want to see Odd become a super-spy. I don't want to see him saving the world... it just ruins it all for me.

It's obvious that Koontz has something bigger planned for these characters. He's announced he wants to write at least 2 more Odd Thomas books, so perhaps the next two books will put the last few in context.

But, in the end I'm just not sure that Dean Koontz is really made for writing a series of books.

The fourth book in the Odd series is not as strong as the other ones. Koontz had some great ideas strewn throughout the book, but they don't seem to come together well enough. The ideas on their own are cool, but he doesn't tie together enough loose ends or resolves enough mysteries. Still, the writing is phenomenal as usual, using ridiculously poetic prose to describe relatively simple situations; in this case, Odd's plight to stop the transfer/detonation of a bunch of nukes...

This one was probably the most ripe with those philosophical footprints that make Odd who he is. However, the ending was more than disappointing -- especially for Koontz. It was almost as if plot became nothing but a fly on the wall to be swatted. Forget climax and anticlimax -- there was no real ebb and flow. The ONLY saving grace was the typical Odd-isms. Second only to the first, but the ending should leave Koontz cringing in shame for being so lazy.

Mr. Dean Koontz never fails to surprise his readers with this latest installment of the Odd Thomas series. The book finds Odd a defender of good, undoer of evil deeds, trying and failing to live a quiet life. For the fans of Odd we know that will never be a reality for this haphazard hero. And Wether you believe his gift is just that or a curse you will not be able to put this thriller down.

I was so phyicked when I saw this laying next to 'The Host' at Borders, thinking it was just a gag for Brother Odd was much thicker than this. But it was no gag, it was the real thing. Its self was a good book, to me it was a little bit a mix between the first three; mostly susspence with a touch of horror from Forever Odd. What I didn't like about it though, was the fact that I actully wanted it to end. I wanted this to be Odd's finnal hour, but clearly I was mistaken. There is so many loose ends that I can go off and talk about, but that would just ruin the story for all thoes who still have to read. It would be a mistake not to write another, just for the fact that the danger hasn't really left yet.All and all though, Odd Hours lived up to my expectations. For all Dean Koontz, Odd, and suspense fans, you shouldn't miss out on this book.

Good, solid outing in the Odd Thomas series - seems more of a set-up for the next book in many ways than it does a completely independent story. The usual quirks and characters (well, new characters, but still familiar roles) are here. Odd faces a vastly different danger than previously, in a completely different setting. Will be interested to see how this plays into the next book.
