Pasco was a great student for Sandry. As the first book for this series, it had a great story line and set of characters.

Got me really excited for the rest of the series. I thought that it showed with the young boy that was consumed by dark magic or whatever it was that these are books that both adults and kids can enjoy. Maybe not her best, but Tamora Peirce really got me ready to continue in the lives of the young mages

Overall a good book, but Tamera really tried something i personally didnt like. Gory, blood. Some is all right but it was alittle too much for me, involving children is not right. Any way it was a good book all you have to get through the rough parts.
