This is one of the books that I will pass on to my kids. It encourages everyone to have the strength of heart to do what people say you couldn't or shouldn't do.

...one of the finest pieces of literature to grace my eyes. Fast-paced, it held my attention to the end. It was satisfying to see how Bilbo got the ring. One thing I notice is how Tolkein loves names puns. Sauron and Saruman are so similar. It struck me as odd. Consider the dwarves: Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Doro, Nori, Ori, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Fili and Kili. Beorn reminds me of some character in Dragon Warrior 7. hah. Even videogames from the east borrow from Tolkein. I have gone there and back again. but one thing's for sure when you're in trouble... The Eagles are coming!! (they're so darn reliable)

A Wonderful book! Extremely easy to read. The book is written so that even children can follow it, but that doesn't take away from the depth of the story. One of Tolkien's best works.

This is a GREAT book!! i loved it! i have read it a dozen times! this is the start to The Lord Of The Rings series. This Explains the beg.( how it all started). this is just a wonderful book full of action, darkness, riddles and etc..
