a classic book- beautiful illustrations of around paris, cute and clever story and characters. i don't get sick of reading this one to my daughter.

STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS IN PICTURE BOOKS: This one makes my list. In fact, this is a childhood favorite and I own a copy.

This was so my favorite story growing up... I loved looking at the pictures, and used to imagine myself as Madeline, losing my appendix and all that stuff.. lol.. and not being afread of tigers, snow and ice. One of the happiest children books out there..

the very first book my 20 month old could memorise by heart. the spirit of madeline is clearly illustrated in the story.

This was one of my favourite books as a child. I read it aloud recently to a group of children aged 3-10 and all of them loved it too. They particularly liked the illustrations, as do I. If you have young children or are stuck thinking of a present for a niece or nephew this is great.

Although I did not grow up in Paris, or attend religious schools (thanks to mom's interventions!)I did attend a private school for 5th, 6th and 7th grade in Europe. These books remind me of my adventures, *before* I discovered expensive Japanese stationary and going to the café during recesss with my friends. Nostalgia is always better in pictures!
