Hated this book. I actually read it twice because I thought I missed something the first time around. Nope. Just a really boring book. If that was the literary point of the book, I would have advised Ms. Proulx not to write it in the first place.

I remember this book from university. Very thought provoking. You should try Anne Marie McDonald's 'fall on your knees' explosive writing.

Annie Proulx writes like a surgeon with a scalpel, carefully transforming what was once mundane and easily overlooked into something overwhelmingly beautiful, complicated and unforgettable. This book is truly a gem.
