Creo que después de leerlo, me decidí aún más a buscar mi rumbo en Barcelona siendo todavía pequeña. Y no me arrepiento de haberlo hecho, creo que nunca lo haré.

la primera novela ambientada en barcelona sobre una historia misteriosa que ha dado lugar a una larga serie de imitadores, con mejor -Carlos Ruiz Zafón- o peor fortuna -Isidro Falcones-. De lo mejorcito.

Although this book talks about the place I live -Barcelona- I was not particularly fond of it. It attempts to be an old-style novel, telling the story of a single man's life in connection with the evolution of the city of Barcelona at the turn of the 20th century. The style is nothing special and neither is the story itself. The most interesting part of the book are the historical anecdotes about Barcelona that Mendoza slides in through the plot. Don't read it if you are looking for a great book, but go ahead if you are a big fun of Barcelona.

Es una obra maestra. Sucio, oscuro, desesperanzado, corrupto, pero interesante y delicioso. El ultimo parrafo es sensacional. Es el libro mas interesante, corrompido, sucio y delicioso que me he leido. El mejor de este escritor. Es un libro perfecto para leer cuando no espera uno nada de nada.

Since our trip to Spain, last September, I have been really missing the country and it\'s culture. So I have been reading Spanish authors, and Mendoza is one of my favorites. This book looks at Barcelona in the early 1900\'s with a fascinating story
