Better than Stephen King's The Stand - and I don't say that lightly...I LOVED The Stand! Amazing epic - good versus evil! What else is there? :-)

this is one of maybe3 whole booksI have reread in my life purely out of the joy of them. An excellent read even the fourth time through. McCammon so richly describes the land and plot that something is picked up each time. a little flower or such that you missed the last!!

One of my favorite books of all time! I have read it three times the book is over a thousand pages but you will not want it to end. It deals with the themes of inner beauty and the struggle to survive. Great Book!

One of my favourite 2 books. I've read this so many times and never tire of it. It has all the best elements of a post apocalyptic novel and is much bettered structured than "The Stand". It's a shame it's not as well known as that one.

I should rate this lower but I liked it a lot when I first read it back in the eighties when it was first published, nostalgia is a terrible thing! Frankly it's dated, clichéd and hugely overlong, one to avoid.
