Hypnotická antická tragédie z amerického Jihu. Nepřekonatelné, dokonalé halucinační vyprávění. Špička.

I might have to read this one again someday, the stream of consciousness left me blank sometimes.

When I finished this book, I turned to my wife and said, "I can't believe a single human being wrote this." To read any Faulkner, you have to invest time and focus. But. . . the rewards. I will never forget this book.

Finishing this book makes you feel like you just ran a marathon. Very difficult read, but worth the effort.

hard to pick faulkner's masterpiece. this may be it. miscegenation, incest. disjointed narrative, multiple points of view--this is the hard stuff. faulkner was the hardest drinking nobel prize winner ever.

I think Faulkner had an amazing perspective on the American South and he was one great writer. I enjoyed this book very much, and would juxtapose it with Ellison's Invisible Man and Harry Crews's Feast of Snakes for any Yankee (like me) who is trying to put a handle on this robust and nebulous region of our great nation.

Excellent work. The plot set in the South depressing, full of prejudices, incest and characters that remind you of living ghosts. The ending is a shocker. Great read.

one of the hardest thing i've ever read. sentences are so long, sometimes they are convoluted. i think the plot is interesting, tho, if you can extract the gist

I discovered Faulkner while browsing through Crackskull's in Newmarket, New Hampshire. No it wasn't the first time I heard of William Faulkner, but the time, the setting and my mindset motivated me to pick him up and give him a try. Since then, I've never looked back.

It took a huge effort to get through this but was well worth it. This, along with "As I Lay Dying," are two of my favorites by Faulkner.
