The second book of the Valis trilogy. It's the best of 3 in my opinion.

The second of PKD's last three books, all are connected thematically, though not a continuation, this one is about the second coming and further explores the Christian Gnosticism that gripped PKD near his final days.

This is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. The way in which Dick plays between several different sections, slides between the dualities of good and evil (without fully letting the characters fall too heavily on one side or the other) is fabulous. There are such wonderful lines from here. Dick out does himself with word play and meaning.

As Philip K Dick became more schizophrenic in his last decade of his life, his writing became more personal and more surreal, all at the same time. One of my favorite books.

This is the second book in the so-called VALIS trilogy, which was described by Philip K. Dick as a "trilogy constellating around a basic theme". What that means is the connections between VALIS and Divine Invasion are very indirect. If you are looking for a sequel, you will be disappointed. Divine Invasion is a new tale, told in a new style, and demonstrates Dick's range as a storyteller. On the surface, I thought it read like magical realism, or a fairy tale. If you read deeper, the theology is complicated (and probably heretical, since it seems to be a hybrid of several forms of monotheism, some of which are no longer practiced). In conclusion: the book made me think about God and Reality.
