This book is very nice. The characters all have some sort of detachment from everyone else. They're all also mildly depressed. Reminds me of Pirandello. Good book.

Primer libro de Hemingway y para muchos el mejor. Todo Hemingway: Pamplona, fiestas de San Fermín, toros, borracheras, cacería, mujeres, y también... secretos velados que no se revelan (como el iceberg debajo del agua). Su estilo usual; simple, sencillo, claro, fácil de leer.

In my opinion, Hemingway's greatest piece. If you want to learn about Spain and the real bull fighting this is the book for you. Beautiful.

This is the opposite of "The Old Man and the Sea", and equal to it as the top of Hemingway's form. I say the opposite because where the allegory and symbolism of "Old Man" are worn on its sleeve, this is a subtle work. One of the few books I've enjoyed as much or more the second time around.
