Don't get me wrong, it's brilliant, the reason I can only give it one star is that I can't honestly say "I loved it". It was waaay too disturbing for that...

Well done, but tough. Take the odd characters from John Irving, make life brutal like in McCarthy or Oe, and put it all in England. Fair warning.

The Wasp Factory is truly one of the most amzing books I have ever read... to the point I revisit it almost yearly. No a nice book by any means, but a stunning story of deception and murder.

A cracking romp, the characters are all interestingly fleshed out, especially the dogs. And the babies, oh, did I mention the hamsters?

Firstly, thanks Nick!This was a great read. It keeps you on edge, not knwing which way the story will turn. And while at first you might think it merely gruesome, it is poignant in its conclusion.
