I used to think this story was erie. I still can't quite put my finger on the exacts of the why.I received it as a present when my daughter was born. I began reading it to her when she was one, using slow and mysterious tone. She was captivated and I enjoyed building the creepiness of the story by 'performing' each word as Vincent Price would have. Hanging on the ends of words, hissing as the old woman said, "Hussshhhhhhhhh". My daughter loved it and I found that I would have made an outstanding Mystery Masterpiece Theatre narrator :)

A children's classic. Very simple and easy to help children use pictures to decode what the words are, it is also a patterned book which is great for easy readers.

Evaluation: This is a book of course that needs to be in every children’s library. I think we have about 10 copies. Though old, the book is still not outdated, and children still love it. My children wait with baited breath as I show the black-and-white illustrations, and then when I turn the page for the full color spread, they gasp every time. They love finding the little bunny and the mother rabbit in each picture. Although the story is “cute†I guess, it is very much unlike some of the mushy-gushy modern crap that gets published as children’s literature. Possible Uses with Children: I sometimes read this with some other classics just to get the kids exposed to them. They kind of like to hear books that I read when I was in school. It’s also a good parent and child read of course, and it works as an independent read for first or second grade.

I can't figure out if this version is the "sanitized" one or not. If it is, take my advice and track down an original copy at a used book-seller. This is one of the greatest children's books every created and I do NOT understand the compulsion to "fix" it by removing the old lady rabbit smoking a pipe.

Many fond memories with this book. Every member of my family has read and reread this book to me when I was younger. Now I enjoy reading and rereading this classic bedtime book with my niece.

Margaret Wise Brown's Goodnight Moon is by far the best first book for any child (apart from Pat The Bunny). The illustrations alternate between black and white, and color to keep the attention of even the littlest baby. There are plenty of things to point out to infants and small toddlers which captures and keeps each child's attention. This is my favorite book to give as a gift to a little child to introduce him or her to the magic of books.

This simple bedtimestory is my stepson's favorite. The major difference is that he prefers it any time except when it's bedtime.
