I gave up in the middle of the book, tired of the whole series...
Neverending descriptions of clothes, flags, armies and other boring things, and if this is not enough - the book is sickeningly violent, with so much gut spilling, rapes and roughly described scenes of old men having sex with very young teens - that it makes you wonder if the author doesn't need a psychiatric evalution...

Halfway through this book I finally came up with a good comparison. It's like you through the Sopranos and Lord of the Rings together in a pot and stirred and stole the best bits of each. Simply amazing. The battle between The Mountain and The Red Viper had me literally on the edge of my seat. I can't remember the last time I actually got that deep into a chapter. If you haven't started this series yet you really should.

very good but offbeat as he departs from many of the main characters for much of the book. I completely agree with his note at the end of the book and cannot wait for the next one...

Book #3 of the A Song of Fire and Ice trilogy. I have never read a fantasy book in my life before this series and now I can't put it down. The series has magic, sex, war, dwarves, ghosts, Kingslayers, dragons and some of the best dialogue I have ever read. Don't get too attached though...Martin brutalizes his characters. Never assume that because a character has a big role, or has become your favorite, that he wouldn't possibly kill them off.

If you're looking for a new series, pick up the first book before you even attempt the rest of the trilogy. The first one is A Game of Thrones. Enjoy!

A Storm of Swords is book three of George R. R. Martin's high fantasy epic, A Song of Ice and Fire. This is by far my favorite book of the series (thus far) as it sees the most action of the trilogy. George R. R. Martin doesn't hesitate a second putting main characters we've grown to love in perilous, life-or-death situations and you will be on the edge of your seat finishing this book; you will not be able to put the book down for the last 5 to 10 chapters. The culmination of A Storm of Swords is a genre-defining, mind-blowing endeavor and George R. R. Martin essentially ascends to a god-like status when the final page has turned. The greatest book I've ever read.

The war for Westeros continues in what may well be the best book in the series, though it is difficult to place any one above the other. Still, another excellent read thanks to our man Martin.

Aside from Martin's propensity to kill off characters I like, this series just keeps getting better. I'm partway through the next book now and still no sign of book 5 on the horizon. I don't know how I'm going to wait for books 6 and 7!
