Worth a read if you enjoyed Seven Ancient Wonders (At least, that's what the first one was called in Australia) Jack West, Lily and Wizard are back in another cracking adventure, possibly even more over the top than the first! But the cliffhanger ending annoyed me! It's a book, not an episodic TV show, Mr Reilly!

Awesome.. although Ending not what I expected.. I went to a Matthew Reilly Book Signing and he has promised that he'll neer do this again. The Pace s quaick, as lways, and continuing the development of the recurring characters while adding new ones for extra Spice...

It was just not fair on Reilly's part to leave us all hanging (and Jack plunging down an abyss, actually!!) at the end of this book.........This is the first time he has ever left us without his usual adrenaline pumping, "the hero saves the world, and all is well" ending.........right now, I hate him and will continue to do so if he doesnt make the wait worth its while by giving us the best stupendous sequel to '6 Sacred Stones'!

One hell of a book! Matthew Reilly sure knows how to get your pulse racing... love the way he takes facts and twists them into fiction..... great going Matthew! Can't wait for the next book! However seems to me that Jack West Jr. and his team are invinsible.... how come no one dies? they all seem to get out of it at the last sec..... kinda far fetched there....

It starts off poorly written with all the italicised emphasis to provide some measure of impact rather than choosing the right structure - lazy. It pretty much reads like a lengthy set of scenes. If you're under 13 you'll like it. It does become a lot better later in the book and more readable, possibly even engaging, hence the 1 star, but always very predictable - even more than Cussler and that's saying something. Would I recommend it? No.

Worst ending ever! (and i read Blowfly by Patricia Cornwell).. If you are considering reading this book i would hold off until the next in the series is available (March 08) unless i find Matthew Reilly in the street and hurt him for leaving the ending of a book so 'in the air'.. I'm not a Soprano's fan, but i hear the ending is on par with that - you go to turn the page and, THE END.. I still give it 4 stars, but only because it was so good i read it in about 3-4 hours.. Bring on the next one!

This had rather the opposite effect of Quicksilver. At times I found it hard to see this book as more then a list of odd bits of research. I wasn't expecting great depths or heights though. I read Matthew Reilly as a for some light escapism but somtimes its so derivative and shallow that I literally cringed. Compared to his prevoius books this one is an improvment. There were some stunny action scences and the hint at the development of character. But only a hint and the major plot driver wasn't as well thought out as Seven Ancient Wonders. I stick with Matthew Reilly in the hope that something will evolve with his writing, because I believe he has it in him to do more with his stories then he does, but unlike his break neck speed of his books his evolution as a writer is somewhat slower.

Got it Xmas day, finished Xmas night,DT's boxing day! LOVE this book and NEED next installment urgently!! Talented writer who brings you to the edge of your seat.....then slams you back with roller coaster exciting ups and downs. Dare you to ride one book of his only!

Matthew Reilly makes it easy to connect to such hardcore-combat-adventures, which was never my favourite before.

Great story (action, adventure, archaeology, etc.), but I could barely stand the way to book was written.Overall, not a fan of the book or the author. I'll take some Indiana Jones, please.****SPOILER WARNING****It would have been nice to know that the book itself was only half of the story... the book ends with a HUGE cliff-hanger.

I get confused with who is who in these books. I also skipped a few chapters - it was obvious where things were going and it was taking too long to get there. i predicted the ending and that was as annoying as i thought it would be. Interesting perspectives on dark and light sides. Reilly's books get me in with their characters, but I do get confused with the call names and real names! This was really detailed and at times I felt like I didn't understandwhat he was talking about, and was it really relevant to the story? I [redicted the ending halfway through the book. I hope he finishes the story in the next book, otherwise it will definitely become tiresome.

Really enjoyed this book, could not put in down, when finished had to trace the followup to find out what happened to Jack. Great read.

I just finished it! It continues on from 'Seven Deadly Wonders' (aka 'Seven Ancient Wonders'), and it is better! Same puzzle-solving adventure with cliffhangers, action, comedy, science, maths and history weaved into the plot. The ending makes you scream for more. I couldn't put it down and read up until 1:30am - which for a mum of two young ones, needs plenty of sleep!
