eh, i read this in high school. its an easy read. if you like watching The Hills youll probably enjoy this book too.

Perfection on paper. Concise, but not cold. Colorful characters and raw emotions. Have read and re-read again for 25 years! My son just read it last year and hated the ending! Too much like real life he complained!

It sucked. It's hard to keep reading it because it's boring & there are so many details that seem completely pointless and a waste of space. Even once you find out that the details are foreshadowing events or symbolize something, it's incredibly difficult to realize that the confusing details are literary devices after all. In other words, you need to read it twice to pick up what you missed. I suggest you don't, though, because it'll still suck. You'll understand it, yes, but you would just be wasting your time (again) on a dull book whose message is poorly protrayed.

Every time I re-read this book, I'm struck by the wonder of Fitzgerald's prose - from what I understand, his editor had a great deal to do with it.

i loved it so much..ppl like gatsbt are haunted by their past..living is dreams ..trying to fiworth fixing..and ppl like daisy and her husnband who mess with ppl's love out of their carelessness and then escape..and teh only reason they are togetehr is that they just fit..i was really devastated at how lonely gatsby was..even when he died i really was so taken with the book..that i cried at its end

I remember reading this book in high school and really enjoying it; however, this time through I didn't really care for the book. I think that to truly enjoy the book, you need an English teacher guiding you through it.

if u haven't read this "must read" book, you should go for it. the story is pretty catching, romantic and sweet but not corny, and it is amazingly well written. (if u like to read books in english even though it is not your native language you may want to read this in your own language, to enjoy it completely.... i read it in english but lost much of it, so i'm planning to read it again in italian)

I love the book's symbolism and it's visible all throughout the book, the tragedy that was Daisy, and Jay Gatsby who loved her till the end. Read this book in H.S. and had a great English teacher who in some ways influenced me and made me appreciate these fine classics. I love all the symbolism in this book. F Scott was truly way ahead of his time.

Go visit the James Hill House and Fitzgerald's old digs in St. Paul Minnesota, and you will see the inspiration for this novel! Great story and incredible the destruction drinking plays in their lives. Classic must read.

Described as an all American classic, this is one in a series of classics that I am currently reading. I felt like I was always waiting for the story to really kick in and then realizing it was almost over. There is a powerful defining scene but I never really got into the swing of this one.
