My first time reading Picoult which I've been avoiding, thinking it would be a bit like Caroline Aherne; sentimental and, well, nothing to sink your teeth into.
I actually really enjoyed her writing style and characters, and the plot had great potential BUT it was just too predictable. After about 50 pages you know exactly what is going to happen for the rest of the book, and I found myself skimming over paragraphs because I knew what was coming next. Shame, because it had a lot going for it.

A modern retelling of The Crucible but not in the strictest of terms, Salem Falls was a page-turner and was full of mystery and suspense. I liked how the protagonist was a male and the story of his life was told in reverse chronological order via flashback. As is typical in Picoult's books, the story is interwoven with flashbacks and the whole thing doesn't come together until the end leaving you unsettled until you finally finish the book! Creative, clever, and thought-provoking, I think this might be my favorite Jodi Picoult book yet!

Jack St Bride turns up in Salem Falls after being released from prison to start a new life, after being wrongly accused of rape. But yet again he falls into the trap of being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

This was a great read. Jodi Picoult is such a good story teller. Plenty of characters (a few too many at times!) that weave the story to its ultimate climax. There are parts that explain the complex dealings of DNA and how this can sway the evidence to a conclusion, but not always the way you expect it too. I found I had to read this part over two or three times to understand the data, but Jodi explained it well. It was certainly a page turner.

Another one of her better books and i like that fact that there is character sharing between her books which allow us to follow the sideline stories :)

Salem Falls was a great read! It's one of the best books by Picoult I've read, then again, I've only read 3. I think she did a good job creating a modern day witch hunt.

Enjoyable, albeit, typical Picoult formula--teen angst, legal trouble, romantic ups and downs--set in a small New England town with the added intrigue of teenagers playing witch, casting spells and conjuring up potions. Jody Picoult reliably provides a good escape with solid writing, well-drawn characters, and a good story line.
