This book is the best to date in the Gaunt's Ghosts series... it is one of the few books that actually gives me chills when I read it.

Many of the previous books have been establishing the distinct culture the Sabbat World have. This book is the culmination of that. Great Finale and a lot of heart-wrenching moments.

Might be due to my religious upbringing too, but when Abnett describes a character's angelic manifestation and the effect it had on Gaunt, I felt all tingly and warm, like I was witnessing it with my own eyes.
