I've read this play so many times it tears at your heart strings. You really feel all of the emotions of the characters. I almost got swallowed up in Lady Macbeth and her inner torcher..."Out, out damned spot!" If you want to keep your sanity, don't read the book. But since the majority of the world is half or mostly crazy, this is Shakespeare in one of his craziest, goriest plays ever. This is a MUST read! But don't be surprised if you can't sleep for a week or two after...

Sex, power, lust, ghosts and revenge. Not to mention astrology, horoscopes, witches and blood and gore. What's not to like. There should be a movie made, with nakedness. Oh wait, there is ONE. Let's hear it for Roman Polanski.

Definitely in my top two favorite Shakespearean tragedies. Of course, Romeo and Juliet has a special place in my heart as a sappy romantic, but the characters in Macbeth are much more intriguing (and, thankfully, have a little less teenage angst to work through). Lady Macbeth is fascinating and there are many clever plot turns that make this play worth reading again, even though you probably read it once for class, unwillingly.

I adore shakespeare and this is one of his most fascinating plays I have ever read. Just be sure not to say it's title in a theatre though

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are driven by ambitions that will stop at nothing, not even murder. But in their eagerness they underestimate the power of those supernatural entities that mark the destiny of the evilly inclined. Macbeth, would-be thain and thorough treachor, first follows and then is led by the mocking voices of murder to his own frightening end.
