Like most of Shakespeare’s other works, the story of Romeo and Juliet has become the definition of the love story. Two young star crossed lovers overwhelmed by the tragedy of their environment. And in the end their belief in love is so strong that they sacrifice their lives to it. It is a tale that becomes sweeter with age. Because as you grow older, you remember the person you once were with that young love of your own. You get a hint of the passion you once had, and although the pain might still sting, you're thankful for it because it shows that you are human.

The best known of all of Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet stands out due to the surprising detail of emotion that the reader is able to contrive from its surprisingly simple plot. While some of the play's elements don't make all too much sense given the timeline of the play, it is a classic that deserves to be still read.

I have read the modern english version as well as the middle english version.. If you like middle english even a trifle bit, you'll fall in love with the language, the story, the expression, the emotion and just EVERYTHING about this novel in its original form. The modern english versions are NOTHING compared to the original one.

There's a reason we are still reading this 500 years later. Forgetting the teen angst, what it has to say about senseless hate still rings true. Shakespeare has been around for so long for a very good reason. Even getting around the language issues, his stories pack a powerful punch. While the he died/she died bit is trite, there is still much to be learned about petty feuds and handling young adults, who are at their hormonal best, or worst, depending on how you look at it.
