I call myself a Shakespeare-lover, but given the vast amount that he has written I really haven't read all that much. Still, I would insist that this play absolutely must be his best work, simply because I cannot fathom that there exists anything more majestic.

Hamlet is in a Dilemma in figuring how to deal with his uncle who kills his father to become king and goes ahead within a very short period of time to marry his mother. It is a clear indication of how people can be pretenders and harmful at the same time it calls for a good analysis of the people aroun d you.

I have to say that although I wanna hit Hamlet over the head with a candlestick in the drawing room about every time he opens his mouth; the soliloquies make this book one of my favorites. It doesn't hold a brief candle to MacBeth, but the comic relief that Polonius provides is brilliant; and the philosophical contrast to his actions make Hamlet as fascinating as he is frustrating. There's so much to discuss, every speech and dialogue could spawn a hundred discussions. 'There is no good or bad but thinking makes it so' is my favorite quote from this play.

Like others i enjoy a good soap now & then.if it is true to life so much more.That being said not everything that is true to life or revealing is interesting or fun.Sometimes it is quite disturbing to see the truth revealed.Hamlet is like watching the banal& evil side of life played out in a soap.Interesting but not exactly thrilling.

one of the clearest insights into the drama of humanity - the performance of humanity's attempts to become the author of their own play- to re-invent the human. Through the character of Hamlet, Shakespeare takes us on a volatile journey through the struggle of fate, flesh, and finality as Hamlet epitomises the disastrous effects when the foundation of relationality bound up in the I-Thou paradigm is transformed into the ever present paradigm of I-it-me whereby the eternal Godhead has been displaced through a reorientation of focus. how can one not appreciate the depth of humanity explored through the play of hamlet? A must read for anyone human...

Had to read this as part of my year 12 English Lit. studies, but got to know it inside out. Loved the language and the way Shakesphere expressed the interactions between characters. Was something I was forced to read, but learned to love and often pick it up to re-read some of the soliloquies and re-experience the imagery.

my fav shakespere (and i can see i am not the only one). i love that it doesnt let itself be tied down, that i can relate to them, that the paralells and motifs reflect and dont judge people for their reactions to the same situation. i love that you can be angry and frustrated and sympathise with and pity the eponymous hamlet, that you dont know whether to love or hate the duplicitous women in his life, that claudius becomes a figure of pity. life affirming, makes you happy to be able to reason, have conscious thought and generally be human
