Took 1/2 the book to get into. Then, when it just starts to get good, the author died. Then, someone else wrote what they think was supposed to be the rest of the book in just a few pages.

Though this novel was unfinished, I greatly enjoyed reading the author notes on characters and their backgrounds. I enjoyed it perhaps more than I would have actually enjoyed the novel had it been finished!

I'm partially saddened by the fact that it was cut off before he could finish it, and partially grateful, since it's my favorite of his books as-is and seeing where he wanted to go with it made me worry that it wouldn't measure up to the first half of the book. This way it's a brilliant, though unfinished gem.

Disjointed - but primarily because of Fitzgerald's death. I found it a bit unlikely in terms of plot, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I didn't finish it...but neither did he. Ba-dap bing!But seriously, folks, it's good. Amazing how many writers Hollywood fucked up in so short a period--Fitzgerald, Faulkner, Chandler, etc. Although they were all pretty damaged before they came out west. Maybe it was their fault for thinking Hollywood was a cure-all.
