this book follows a young prince from when he is forced to take the title to the end of a war with the highe prince Rolestra and past that , Rohan not only has to navigate the poilitics of the island continents 12 princedoms and start to rule his own but also finds him self cought up in a romance he must hide for a time to acomplish his goals , a very good read that mixes politics , romance, and a magic all its own very effectivly

The 6 books that comprise the Sunrunners set still is, after all this time, a regular re-read for me. It's like visiting old friends and catching up on details that you either forgot or never noticed about them before. Rawn's characters are strongly written and quite capable of making me laugh and cry at the same time. This is her strongest series, in my opinion.

This was the start of it all. Rowan and Sioned make a perfect couple with dragons in the background and sunrunning witches abound. This is a 5 star Series!

really good, but i felt like i was reading the watchmen all over again - very depressing and a highly unsatisfying ending in terms of justice. people who i wanted to die did not die, and ones who should have lived died unceremoniously in one sentence postscripts.It drew me in, even though there were parts that made me shudder a bit. There were a few characters who I wanted to receive some sort of justice who didn't, and there were a few who didn't deserve what they received. This book reminded me of the Watchmen, I think, only toned down.

Melanie Rawn's fantasy world full of Sunrunners, Princes and Dragons is one of the most beautiful creations I've read about. The Sunrunners are people who can send their thoughts out over sunlight to communicate or view things over long distances. They learn, inadvertently, that dragons possess this same power. Meanwhile, warring Princes and overly ambitious religious leaders make this story feel more like a political intrigue than a fantasy novel. And just a friendly warning: Rawn isn't afraid to kill off a character.

Whenever I need a pick-me-up book I re-read this one. It has strong women characters, a prince that shows real leadership, it has magic, it has romance, it has adventure, it has thrills and even better it has dragons. It is my favorite feel good book.

The exciting stuff--the schemes, and the emotional intensity--got buried in repetition and wordiness, when they weren't completely skipped over.

Ahh, the book that started it all...If you love the stories and characters of Anne Maccaferty's Dragon's of Pern series, you will fall in love with this great series!! TRUST ME!!

The story was predictable, but ok (I made it to the end, at least). However, the characters where very two dimensional and too perfect. All attempts at making them seem like real people with flaws felt too planned and as a result were unbelievable. Not only did I not like (or dislike, for that matter) her characters, I didn't care about them or what happened to them.

This book has everything in it! Romance, magic, adventure, intrigue, fighting, you name it. Melanie Rawn's amazing ability to have several plots going at the same time, as well as careful attention to details amazes me.

I have read this book and the 5 other books that comes after it in this series. Needless to say, I love these books! Melanie Rawn created a masterpiece with her Sunrunners and the political intrigues of the Princely Kingdoms. The story reminds me so much of the Dune series. I think it would make a great sci-fi series or motion pic blockbuster! I highly recommend this!

This is my second time re-reading the Dragon Prince trilogy and my first time reading the Dragon Star trilogy. I must admit that Dragon Prince wasn't anything at all like what I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, I was NOT disappointed in this book at all! Wow, this is, without a doubt, one of the most amazing books I've ever read. There is such much depth to the characters that you actually develop a fondness for them. I think Camigwen is just too cool! lol! The relationship between Tobin and Chay is great as well but you can't help but adore Sioned as she endures to serve her prince and new found love, Rohan. This throughly enjoyable book is a great beginning to a compleltey amazing trilogy!
