Yates third novel pulls you in from the begining and never lets you out.A gifted storyteller,he manges to draw you into the world of Hester,and her experiences with life.A book which captivates you.Bravo.

I had such a blast reading this book. The lead character -- a 72 year old former classical pianist -- is one of the most original creations I've come across in a long time. The author depicts family relationships at their most brutal -- sometimes it's brutally funny, and sometimes it's completely shocking. Always, it feels very, very true. It's also very moving, and I found myself shedding a tear or two at several points. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed every moment I spent in this world, and I highly recommend it.
