When I finish reading this book I though, I haven’t lived yet. This is the biography of Antonieta Rivas Mercado; she was the daughter of Antonio Rivas Mercado the famous architect who built the Monument of Independence, best known as The Angel. She was born with the century and she live intensely trough all her life, the last decades of Porfirio Diaz as president and dictator of Mexico, the Mexican revolution. She was a benefactor of the arts and was a very advanced woman for her times. She married, divorced, had affairs with prominent politicians, had a child, fought for the reinstallation of order in Mexico, traveled the world, and helped create the Philarmonic Orquestra in the Palacio de Bellas Artes, so when I say that she lived intensely that is saying the least. She was exiled to France where she took her own life at the Notre Dame Church in Paris. This book was written by Kathryn S. Blair, Maria Antonieta’s daughter in law.
