My ex-wife and I met Martin Hanford at the Christmas Fair in Denver the original WHERE'S WALDO book came out. Handford was dressed as Waldo and, to the surprise of no one, is in fact the model for the Waldo drawings. He was every bit as charming as his drawings are.

It's interesting how simplistic this one is compared to the later Waldo books. I went back home to my parents' house and was looking at my childhood books a few weeks ago and I noticed this.
